I actually love the combat in this game, and the boss battles are amazing. It controls really well and killing every enemy is incredibly satisfying. However all of this is completely ruined by the map and the exploration.

I managed to kill one of the dreamers and have reached a point where I am completely stuck. Every new passageway I find is one I have to come back to later when I've unlocked the next ability. There are walls that aren't wall-jumpable, impassable oceans, and walls of smoke all blocking every new area and I have no way to pass them. I need to find the next ability and there is absolutely no way of knowing where that ability is.

I currently have 18 hours in this game, that was 3 hours getting to this point then 15 more just wondering around the map over and over, thinking I'm heading toward the next area only to find a wall of black smoke blocking it off, and realising I still have no idea what I'm meant to do.

The other two dreamers are beyond passageways I can't yet access. Every passageway I can find on my map is blocked by an obstacle I can't yet surpass. There is no obvious indicator of where I'm meant to go, and if there were any hints earlier on it's been 15 mind-numbing hours since then and I've completely forgotten them.

Just now I had a massive wave of euphoria, I actually found a new area! The Hive! However after walking 20 feet in I reached a jump I can't make and was back to square 1.

I even looked online to see where to go next, and someone said the Elderbug in Dirtmouth gives hints when you're stuck. The only hint he seems to want to give me is that while the bench next to him is in fact made of iron, it's surprisingly comfortable.

I really, really, really want to like this game. I think if I were to just play the boss battles I'd love it to bits. But I've reached a point where I have no idea where to go and honestly have had all motivation to keep exploring completely drained.

I understand it's a spoiler but if anyone can tell me where the hell I'm meant to go next it would be greatly appreciated, and if what follows is as good as everyone says, I'll change this review to a positive.

I have over 500 hours in this game and just yesterday completely finished it, with everything in the ammonomicon discovered and every achievement unlocked.

I always think back to when I'd just started it and I could very rarely complete floor one, and how now I can fight two Lichs simultaneously in the gunslingers past, like how on earth did I get here?

This game makes you appreciate the victory because you have to work really, really hard for it. And that's exactly why it's fantastic.

This game is so good.
Imagine all the good things from Half Life, take them out, make them 10x better and add some magical production dust then put them back in and you have Black Mesa.
If you're a Half Life fan then you need to play this.
10/10 would Half-Life again.

This game is great! It has such a good idea to it, and plays really well. Some levels are really easy and others will make you want to rip out your hair whilst scrubbing a dirty midget in a bath tub. The game has a really good variety of levels and I'm surprised it's only £6.99. Trust me, if you like platformers and games with awesome twists, then you'll absolutely want to sell your soul to satan for this game, let alone pay £7.

This game is one of the best games on Steam. It's perfect (Apart from a few small bugs). My favourite genre of games is survival and realism, which this game fits almost perfectly. There were a few bugs which made the game very frustrating, for example the raft disappearing in the middle of the sea (I died so many times xD), but after only a few days of complaints the new update fixed this showing that not only the game is amazing, but also the people behind it.
