solid game, gameplay loop is amazing. combat is clunky at times but overall satisfying once you know flow of combat mixed with switching pals during so. overall in my honest opinion, 8/10

theres still some bugs and frustrating issues like lack of control over pals in your base but that can all be ironed out and fixed.

Amazing game ive played and watched how the devs have built on it over the years. Cant express enough how much i enjoy what they are doing with it.

Movement unlike any other game.

Getting to funny mode and being strong enough to survive makes you feel like you own all the pizza chains in the world.

I personally enjoyed the DLC a lot. Im keeping the review fairly spoiler free just to let anyone reading know but I had a lot of fun seeing not only the new enemies but also what the story had to bring next. Nothing really felt under cooked and even the side missions were decently fun. I enjoyed learning about the creepy old town from doing extra content like side missions to something as simple as knocking on random folks doors. It really is something you could find a lot of fun playing especially when experiencing the final boss and trying to keep track of a couple of different things while fighting it. Overall i was pretty impressed with the game. I am slightly biased because i personally dont really enjoy a certain character in this DLC Gaige but other than that i had a lot of fun playing it.

I personally enjoyed this DLC a lot. Krieg as a character is really expanded upon and we are given many answers for questions that were previously only hinted at or just left in the air. I love the story and i really enjoyed watching Krieg grow as i played more and more. Some say the side missions are bland and you just stand around but its whats said in that time and why it makes that standing around so worth while. It has its moments and i wont say any spoilers but i do think they couldve beaten around the bush more but in the end the point was made and im happy with the content in this DLC.

Now, ill start this by saying what everyone says about this game. The story is pretty damn bad. That said, if you are someone who plays for gameplay i would really recommend this game. Me personally im a Borderlands fanboy so i love the game, i still do see where it lacks and mainly my only problem tends to lie in 1 npc in particular so if you just turn off your brain whenever Ava speaks the game is actually pretty good.

Now all that said as i mentioned before the gameplay is amazing, gunplay is easily the most satisfying gunplay ive experienced in years. With the large diversity of guns and the different settings for each gun the game gets really fun when you find yourself quickly switching between weapons or modes while fighting off large amounts of enemies. This on top of the extra movement theyve given the characters main one being characters are actually able to grab and climb ledges now it adds a layer of not only easter egg hunting but also areas and heights we didnt really see ourselves getting to in the earlier games.

Overall even with the very iffy story i do enjoy this game a lot and i have yet to even get into any dlc other then revenge of the cartel and ive completely fallen in love with the aesthetic and feel of Villa Ultraviolet.

----Now over about a year later----
I really do still enjoy the game immensely and with the new dlc ive really been having lots of fun, the main story does still bring it down sadly.

Not a bad play at all. Considering the game is free and the overall gameplay looks pretty damn good in my opinion id say its worth at least a try.

The only real gripes i have with the game are some balancing issues and optomization but i feel it could honestly become a pretty big game with the right backing and support from devs.

NOTE: I wrote the beginning about 1 year into the games development.

Its painfully good, the more the devs update the game the more i die. been playing since day 1.

---EDIT NEARLY 2 YEARS LATER---

Going back into the game I didnt have the highest hopes. I gave it a solid try and I played a good amount of games before posting this review. I honestly still love this game and it hurts more and more to see after every update. Playing the new characters I quickly notice balance problems and characters that are just so much more versatile. Its like trying to start a fire with nothing but your hands while the guy your against has a multi tool, some flint and basically everything you need to easily make a fire. Matches feel painful, spending ever single little bit of effort trying to win and while you may get 1 or 2 rounds your opponent has someone that bashes and spams attacks and cheeses you out of your stam or just deals to much damage leaving them with a lot less to do for a win you had to work your ass off for. This isnt a rewarding game if you want to play characters for fun or because they look cool. There is so clearly characters that are just stronger than others or just better versions. It really does hurt me to see how the game is almost 2 years later with characters like Jormungandr or really any of the Shaolin. Ill see yall in like 2 more years or someshit because this game is basically like heroin, please save yourself before you end up like me with almost 600 hours on a game that you hate.
