JUST PLAY IT. I know it looks kinda unappealing and complex and confusing. Just play it. This game is actually ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing. Words can't do it justice. Watching other people can't do it justice. The fun comes from figuring out each round and building a deck around your modifiers to score the most points. It is extremely satisfying and fun. Runs are super varied due to how the modifiers work with each other. Can not recommend this enough, seriously trust what everyone is saying and just play it. You won't regret it.

I didn't like it as much as P5R, but it's still a great game. A lot of the social links were pretty meh and not gaining new abilities from them was disappointing. The beginning of the game was also a bit slow and initially your team feels a bit randomly thrown together with a lack of proper setup. That being said, the characters and story really came together and grew on me. P3R just needs time to cook before you feel super invested. The core gameplay loop is solid and Tartarus surprised me with how fun and chill it ended up being. Definitely more enjoyable than mementos. If you haven't played P5R, go play that first, otherwise if you liked that game you will like Persona 3 Reload too.

If you've played the soulsborne games you'll enjoy this without a doubt. I had a really good time with this game the setting is awesome, the characters are pretty interesting, the music is fantastic ("Feel" HITS SO HARD) weapon mix and matching is great. I liked the bosses overall but some of the later ones were more annoying that fun, the enemy designs were cool, the decision parts were tense, just a lot of strong design choices and fleshed out mechanics.

That being said I'm not sure I'd be interested in replaying it any time soon unlike the other souls games and that's mainly because the game is extremely linear. It's a straight shot the whole way through. Level design is still pretty good but you won't ever be given a branching path between areas. Definitely my biggest complaint. I have some other nitpicks like the Advance stat not having any special weapons or feeling a bit less invested in the game after the halfway point, but overall a solid 8/10.

The first "holy sh!t THERE'S MORE???" type game.

Void Stranger is definitely a bit rough around the edges but overall was an awesome experience. While I was a little more critical before finishing the game, something happens eventually that made me accept and appreciate the game for what it was and acknowledge the passion System Erasure has for this game. It's hard to not go into spoiler territory but I wish there had been more puzzle elements as after the ten hour mark you will be seeing a lot of the same puzzle elements for a long, long time. Some of the new elements you do see aren't taken advantage of enough if you ask me. The game is a bit of a grind and will require some patience. If you want to see everything and try to figure it all for yourself (which is for sure doable, I myself needed some hints with some later stuff) prepare for a long haul. The highlight for me was definitely the story, characters, art, and music. It goes a little off the rails but the story is genuinely great and seeing what happens with the characters was what kept me delving deeper and deeper into Void Stranger. Seeing key moments in the story after getting through some brutal puzzles or cryptic secrets was the most satisfaction I've felt from a game in a long time. The art really brings it all together and made me fall in love with the characters. And yeah the music is straight gas, banger after banger. For not being on my radar at all to becoming an obsession I'd say Void Stranger is worth it for sure. If the trailer looks good to you go try the game out.

Reminds me a lot of another recently released 3D platformer, Lunistice. If you liked that game you'll definitely want to pick this one up too. This game was a super chill, laid back experience. The whole no map thing isn't a problem if you're able to beat it in a single sitting. I really enjoyed the vibes and atmosphere, but I am a sucker for mock N64/PSX graphics in a game. The controls are fantastic except for the times when you wish to grab to the ledge and instead wall kick. Otherwise extremely fluid game play. Wish there had been more bosses and a secret ending but for what it is, Pseudoregalia is awesome.

It's pretty good. I think in a lot of ways the cases don't quite reach their full potential. The final case is awesome, but at the same time feels like it's just barely scratching the surface of what the game could have been. There are a few nitpicks I have with the music, characters, writing, gameplay, whatever, but the mysteries are solid and it culminates into a good story with some great "aha" moments. A lot of people mention Obra Dinn and this game together. This game doesn't have the same level of spectacle, wonder, atmosphere, adventure, mystique, detail, satisfaction, and grandeur that Obra Dinn has, but it's still a cozy puzzle all the same. It's a little pricey, but it's a fun time.

Oh and one thing about the demo, there is one part of the investigation in the case with the inheritance where you have to figure out which parts of the inheritance are addressed to who. The full game is updated to fix a problem with it but the demo is not. There is a line that says, "My late sister - your mother -" except in the demo it just says, "My late sister your mother". This is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ confusing and when I played the demo I had to look this up to figure out the case and I think they should really fix the demo because this one thing almost kept me from buying the game because the solution seemed so random. So yeah check out the demo if the game looks cool but watch out for that little bit.

The Puzzles Are the Best Part

Excellent game. It is a unique mix of genres in terms of gameplay that might put some players off. If you aren't big on puzzles you probably won't have a good with this game. Personally, this game has some of the best puzzles I've played and the dungeons were super enjoyable. To some there are too many puzzles but that couldn't be further from the truth. The dungeons are masterful with how they introduce and utilize their elements and the way they build on them. I can only think of maybe 2 or 3 puzzles that were so-so. If using a controller then some of the puzzles will be a lot more difficult as you have to precisely aim with the right stick in a quick time frame. Didn't bother me much though.

The game does expect a fair bit of sidequesting/grinding for gear. The side content is good, but I was only interested in the puzzles and story. Pretty early on I elected to turn the damage received slider to 20% down from 100% and it made for a very smooth playthrough without having to do any side content. Combat was still enjoyable as many enemies and bosses are a puzzle of trying to figure out their weakpoint. Point is, if the zelda-esque style dungeons from the description is what intrigues you about the game but you aren't interested in the sidequests, it's not an issue.

Seriously amazing experience. Play the demo and if you enjoy it pick the game up, the beginning is a little slow but it is oh so worth it.

Early Access Review
It's pretty fun and if you're looking for a challenging platformer this game is for you. Highly recommend the demo if you are interested. Fair warning, from the level "Dark Chocolate" and onwards there is a massive difficulty spike. I personally did not enjoy the last of the levels as much. While the game is marketed as, and keep its promise of being a very difficult game, it affords you a certain degree of error in your movement for most of the game. However, as mentioned, the last 4 levels require a lot of precision or punish you heavily for dying. The final boss in particular forces you to memorize all of its attacks and was not very fun. Still, awesome level design, great aesthetic, decent music, and lots of extra content for anybody wanting to 100% the game. If the game looks at all appealing to you, check out the demo.

A nostalgia trip worth taking. If you like a good old turn based RPG then this game won't let you down.
