Class ends at Heavenly Host with a... whimper. All the charm from the original (and parts of Book Of Shadow) game is gone. I won't spoil anything in case people want to try it for themselves. The story starts pretty well but devolves into a mess of cults, magic, and witches. It's an unnecessary twist that takes away from the tension and dread of the setting. There are a lot of parts that drag on making the game a slog to get through. Just as things are interesting, BANG, you're hit with 10 minutes of spa time that halts the story in place. Several new characters are introduced only to serve as exposition dump and one to crush on Satoshi. Aiko is the only one I cared for, the others could've been excluded and nothing would've changed. Also Ayumi is still the dumbest bag of bricks in gaming history. Lastly, the "Wrong Ends" are very lazily done. Most of them are a couple boxes of text and then the "wrong end" screen. No gory CGs, no animations, and no fanfare. One of the icons of the franchise gets treated like an afterthought.

Some positives are that Yoshiki is still the GOAT, the music is amazing, and the environments are as unnerving as ever. A lot people complain about the 3D/chibi style, but it's not that bad, and even looks great in parts.
