This game is fun. Of course it is, it's a game where you ♥♥♥♥ around with friends and get spooked by evil monsters. But it's not great and I really hate to say it. The core system of recording your dive feels so completely and utterly restricting that it pulls the fun out of it. No time to record funny ♥♥♥♥ to laugh at later, you have an extremely small amount of footage. Don't even bother, you'll be instakilled by one of the 4 monsters that spawned right away in the shallowest part of the facility and lose the footage. If you want a game where you record the spooky monsters with your friends, just... actually record a video with your friends of another game. And that's a big shame. Actually recording the videos is so fun, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around with friends is a really enjoyable time, and there's clearly a lot of passion that went into the art, theme, and monster designs.

Also, I got the game for free in the day 1 100% off sale. I would've regretted buying it, and I definitely wouldn't have got any of my friends to buy it. That being said, I like the developer and I hope they continue to make semi-experimental games like this and find even more success.

a great game that *seems* like it'd be ♥♥♥♥♥♥, but is actually extremely clever and original. It looks like a game that a character in a movie would play, but ends up being a game that *everyone* should play.

This is probably the best "pirate game" ever made, but I cannot recommend for anyone who dislikes forced multiplayer. You *will* have to interact with other players, and 90% of them will try their hardest to ♥♥♥♥ you over. This is by design, and isn't *necessarily* a bad thing if that's the kind of stuff you're into. No honor among thieves, I suppose. Safer Seas was recently introduced, but it does more harm than good. For new players, it'll be a trap that wastes your time. For players who don't want to deal with randoms, you lose access to a significant portion of midgame progression and some more recently added features like Guilds and captained ships. It would've been much nicer to have Safer Seas be just a gold penalty and significantly more AI ship spawns. As it stands now, it seems more like a half-hearted attempt to appeal to an unhappy part of the playerbase without actually understanding what they want and why they want it.

Once, I sailed the high seas with a couple friends. We'd encountered other players many times before, usually resulting in an instant fight to the death, which already irked me given that we've lost significant amounts of time-earned loot many times. On occasion we would meet friendly or neutral pirates who were doing their own thing, passing by uneventfully. This time, we came across a neutral crew who shared a bit of conversation with us. Things were casual... until they noticed we flew a pride flag. I'm sure I don't have to elaborate on what happened after.
Safer Seas should be for players that don't want to have a 50/50 chance of losing an hours worth of loot because someone decided they were going to level Reaper. Players that want to play the only real pirate game around without being randomly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by other people. These people don't hate ship combat or whatever, they hate random people deciding their fun is over without having a say in the matter.

All of that being said, Sea of Thieves is pretty fun! Playing with a few friends, all getting on a ship and sailing around, looting big vaults and digging up treasure, going on a fun little adventure. If you think you can deal with random pirate crews ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you up after a long, labour intensive quest somtimes, then I absolutely encourage giving this game a shot.

With a disastrous launch, frustrating balance changes that don't fix glaring issues, and now overpriced dlc, I can't recommend this game. It's 6-7/10 gameplay wise, easily better than payday 2, but the "modern ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" this game is being bogged down with is dragging it back to a 4/10. It's only a matter of time before microtransactions are back from payday 2.

i purchased this game for 3 dollars and played through the campaign on hard. Each mission was exciting and featured something new and interesting. The campaign was very short, and the story showed some promise, but it was just... cut off. The story ends with many unanswered questions, your typical cliffhanger that's honestly set up very well, but I honestly don't think it'll ever be resolved.

What *is* here, however, is good. Excellent character interactions with BT are a genuine joy, and you really get to know him across the game. There were never any points in the story where I said "Why aren't they doing *thing*? Are they stupid?". It's, admittedly, a very low bar, but a bar I've seen so many stories limbo under that I'm just happy to see a game's story not piss me off as I play it.

Gameplay's great! I'm not even really a big fan of the standard first person shooter, but even I found that I really liked to control the Main Guy TM. I was surprised to find that the on-foot combat was so satisfying, given that piloting the Titans is the big selling point. Controlling the Titan feels pretty good as well, though a bit less mobile than I expected (though I can't complain).

Apparently, a key part of this game was the multiplayer. Given how short the story is, I imagine that was the primary focus. Well, don't buy the game for that. Multiplayer is dead, though it seems that many wish it wasn't. Player count increases pretty significantly during sales (like the one I purchased it in), but are sure to go right back down shortly after. I'd recommend not getting invested.

For $3? Yeah, buy this game and play it. It's good. For anything more than that? Don't bother. Wishlist it and buy it on sale later if it's a must play.

This game is pretty cool. I payed 30 dollars for this game and that's the most it should cost. The story is... fine? Jokes are ♥♥♥♥, characters are well voice acted, general plot is maybe above average. Gameplay is pretty good, not without flaw but definitely not lacking in quality. Once you complete the main story, the game becomes a sort of roguelite, allowing you to go from randomly selected area to area, fight random enemies, and get better gear continually for quite some time. I would have liked a new game+ fairly well, but i guess this'll do. Also, all the DLC is ♥♥♥♥, apparently.
Respec is weird. You can only respec your multiclass, skill points, and hero points. You'd better make damn certain that you like your class and background, because you can't change them. Same goes for Myth Ranks, which are like "Guardian Ranks", though I've never played BL3. In fact, I don't know much about Myth Ranks either, since my game had a game-breaking bug 48 hours in that made it so I couldn't get any xp for them. Only one other person on the internet had my problem and they didn't get a solution either. Probably because this game has an incredibly small fanbase. Oh well, that's my run over, I guess.
If the series continues, I'd really like to see some writers who could write a story that's solid as well as jokes that wouldn't make me embarrassed if someone walked in on me listening to them. And I really hope the series does continue. Borderlands is a very satisfying series to play. Consider buying it when it's on sale, shoot for $15 for a decent time.

Dwarf Fortress is a legendary game that has influenced several incredibly popular and quality games (Minecraft, Rimworld). Those examples I just gave are a couple of my favorite games of all time. I've been looking on in awe at Dwarf Fortress for years. I tried playing it a couple times, but I just couldn't get it. I couldn't understand the ascii graphics or remember the keyboard shortcuts. I imagine this experience is one that's quite common. I'm very happy to say that this release of the game totally alleviates this major hurdle.

So, now that people can actually play the game... how does it measure up? Well, it's good! It has a lot of weird clunky ♥♥♥♥, and some of the games systems are still hard to understand (even with the new and incredibly helpful tutorials). Keep in mind this review is focused on an early release of the game and these issues are likely to be fixed, and these examples are nowhere near a complete list. Placing constructions like floors is a pain unless you're doing a perfectly rectangular room with nothing in it. Floors can't be placed under preexisting items like furniture, and you need to select what you want the floor to be made out of after each rectangle placed (or using the nearest available material, which isn't a good option for obvious reasons). If you can't place something, you have to completely cancel placing it down and then renavigate the menu to try again. As for items that have to be made before they can be placed, you have to wait for the item to be made before you can put it down, where it would be much better to have said item be queued up and then automatically (or manually through a prompt) be assigned to be created. Also, dwarves are extremely stupid when following commands like building structures. They regularly wall themselves in or make other jobs inaccessible. None of these things *totally destroy* the experience or anything, it would just make gameplay a lot smoother.
When learning the game outside of the tutorials, things can be esoteric. I think this is a fun part of the experience, frankly. You've got to be creative, think outside the box, cheat and look up what other people did on the internet. It's a great time, I swear! The game is actually extremely freeform in how you can make things. Build above or below ground, rooms can be whatever shape you want, workshops (where you make stuff) are just 3x3 and can be placed comfortably with little effort wherever you like. Almost anything can be made out of a wide variety of materials. My first fortress made so many masterpiece dog bone gauntlets and turtle shell crowns, you have no idea. If you learn this game, you can do *so much*. Speaking of which, the STEAM WORKSHOP is supported. As of writing, there's not much notable, but I'm certain some big things are in the works.
In conclusion, if you want a management game of where you can do a huge variety of things and have enormous creative freedom and you don't mind a little clunk, Dwarf Fortress is for you. And remember, Losing is Fun :)
