Needs more a lot more time in the oven. The game doesn't do a good job of directing the player to the content, and what is there is feels sparse.
The game refuses to load a new day when you pass out. I had to force quit and reset every day.

I hope the dev manages to make what they wanted out of this, but what I was hoping for out of a Dating Sim RPG would require them going back to the drawing board.

A HPS1 Demo Disc graduate, Fear The Spotlight is a bite sized and well polished game. If you enjoyed the demo, the full game has a lot more of that.

This is a very interesting game worth checking out, but you will need to have a high tolerance for jank and bloat. This game is way longer than it needs to be and is exhausting to play.
I think this will be more enjoyable with a walk through, cause a lot of time spent is circling an area 10 times pixel hunting for an item that blends in with the environment.

This game is split into 3 parts.

Part 1 is very Silent Hill 2, in that you play someone looking for their wife at a hotel. You do puzzles in a real world area, then go to the twisted world and do puzzles, then back the real world. Back and forth while being drip fed story. Sections blend together as you meander about with no clear causation to why other than I found a key, better go use it.

Part 2 - The Drifting Prefecture, is the best part, its basically a 2nd game injected into the middle of another. If you only played part 2 you would get a full story. Most of my recommendation stems from this part of the game. There are lots of characters, the stakes are clear, the locations have variety. It's great.

Part 3 is like Part 1, as its a direct continuation of the events of part 1. Making this game feel like 2 games stapled together.

I really wish this game was shorter. I'm actually kind of mad it took me 27 hours to get an incomplete story. I'll be interested to see what happens in Concluse 3, but I really hope they focus on their strengths like the story telling and world building, and forgo the bloat of puzzles.

The first hours of the game are fantastic. When you don't know how the systems work and interact, there's a joy in discovery, and you even sometimes feel clever for figuring something out with an obscure clue you were given.
But eventually that novelty wears off, as the limit of the procedural generation reaches its limit on unique scenarios to give you, and suddenly it becomes a routine.

There's a few hours where the world is cozy enough you want to linger, and so you grind through the routine of taking your evidence, and figuring out what you need, but you no longer feel clever, as there is no more discoveries to be made, no unique scenarios that cause you to put your thinking cap on.

Unfortunately, the game has an end, and the grind it took to get there was a little more than I enjoyed. The final stretch felt like a chore and I almost walked away without completion. Which, after having reached the end, was not worth the push.

I do recommend for those first hours alone. It was a solid 12 hours of wonder, 6 hours of comfy routine, and 4 hours of agonizing chore.

Short and sweet photography game where you have to do side quests to get a bus ticket for your pilgrimage. I feel like you could take the camera out of the game without losing its spirit, but that's a minor design complaint that doesn't detract from the game at all.
100%'d in 4 hours. Very happy with that length. Base Game didn't overstay it's welcome, and the bonus content is a great extra level. I didn't love the day/night swapping mechanic. Felt more annoying that interesting for the things it changed, but again, minor hiccup in otherwise great experience.

Great game overall. Story was interesting, Solving puzzles was great, the time loop is.... okay, but the killer almost instantly becomes and annoyance rather than an object of horror.
The game insists there is a punishment for dying, but I didn't see any. So instead of running and hiding, I just let the monster kill me and reset the clock to do the puzzles over again, but now with KNOWLEDGE.

I think this game could have been shorter, less trial and error puzzles, less time spent loading between loops. If the helper is going to come and say something, make it something they haven't already said for 5 loops. And the ones that are just shots of environments, cut it out. Just wasn't as tightly paced as I like, but still worth checking out if you want to solve an interesting puzzle box.

Real shame this never got a sequel to complete the story, cause the set up and world building are great.
What's left is a fine bite sized adventure with a sour end. There is a lot of lost potential in this game.

The game has an interesting story, but not in the game you play. You have to complete all the "side quests"(find all the notes) to unlock the animatics that will tell you the story. I wish they would have integrated all that story into the played game. Cause with out those animatics you watch in the main menu... it's lack LUSTer.

Could recommend in a bundle, or on sale.

This game asks you to interpret its story. I really like this aspect of the game.

Things shift depending on interactions and decisions you make, which may be a negative to those who want to 'figure out" the canon, because there isn't just one, but I felt it helped with the replay-ability.

Unfortunately the game is quite slow( text crawl, walk speed, transitional animations), and it discourages repeat playthroughs.

Can't run in 1080 without a work around, has terrible lag if you don't set it's affinity to 1 core. I read it runs on flash? And it certainly feels like a game of that era.
Tough as nails until you learn its secrets, then it's almost too easy up until the end. But overall still very fun. I couldn't put it down till I beat it.
