In short: bland, with nothing new apart from previous Bethesda titles to make it worth continued exploration. Space faring is not my typical cup of tea, and if it is your cup of tea, this isn't a great Space faring game. If you like the gunplay part of it, Fallout 4 does it better. If you like the exploration part of it... any Bethesda game does it better. Nothing in this game feels like it has any good reason of being where it is, and nothing feels like it has history. The info dumps love to tell you that things have been happening and events are supposed to be important, but nothing about the world makes for a build up for the player to care.

If it's got anything good going for it, it didn't commit the sin of Fallout 3/4 where your character has a very structured origin story that could seriously limit what kind of player you wanted to role play as. The character creation is simple to its benefit. Everything after that is either the same old same old, or different in a way that isn't exactly better (new lockpicking, new persuasion minigame). TES and Fallout have a lot of similarity between titles, but there's a buildup of expectations that we can see growth upon from each title, not to mention the established lore and scenes makes exploring the new regions of the existing worlds thrilling. For a game with an all-new setting and all-new story, the game should have stood out much more in terms of gameplay. Instead, it's like a very complicated Fallout 4 mod.
