Lots of stuff to do in vanilla, led alone with added workshop support. Dev seems to be releasing some good stuff. Personally gotten more than a few many hours of entertainment out of Rimworld. Choose your own adventure sort of thing.
I made mechanoids fight bugs, and they won, with few casualities. Was awesome seeing someone other than my teammates face down the Scyther.

I enjoy being a bolte running soldiers over, planting some cluster grenades in strategic positions, waiting 5 seconds and seeing some multiple kills. When I call in a hovercraft, there's a grenade launcher on it, 2 machine guns, missile countermeasures, and self-repair capability.

Sentry gun Boris is pretty OP, can spot a lot of people and if you want to keep a place secure--there is no other. Enemies in its range will be added to the global network, outing their position to friendlies.

It feels like they didn't try to add more quality to the game once they had a working tech demo, and are trying to abandon it in favor of a new upcoming Battlefield. No, fix it.

I want this to be the greatest comeback, get some pilotable drones, auto AA if helis get too close to home base, among other improvements. Balance things out, fix bugs, add more guns, vehicles, weapons, specialists. Get angel to say some more lines. It gets tiring hearing the same old same old same old. I don't exactly identify with a lot of the specialistists but their lines can be funny, and personality a concrete cover to the otherwise act of war. I see potential. I'm sad to see it's potential ready to fizzle out, in favor of EA making the next low quality tech demo of a Battlefield game. I want them to look at their own mess, and fix it, consistent updates, improvements. Games shouldn't just be supported for half a year and then dropped.

There's a whole lot more I could talk about, but it has its moments if you try to lean into the team work side of things.
