Read this before you start judging the thumbs down. I know the hardcore fanbase will hate me for this, but for us good ol' casual players, this is the truth.
So the game in it's current state is very good, and it will definitely be a great game in some time.
But there are some key critical things the developers need to address, which makes this game unplayable usually after 10-13 hours.
For instance trees do not regrow. Timber is one of themost important resource in the game, and it is finite.
Young trees have a chance to regrow after a year, but it seems only 20-30% of them do regrow after playing 28 in game days. This is too slow, as wood also becomes a scarce resource after a while.
The grind is insane, and you need to walk for about 80% of the time your first 10 hours, since the resources are so spread, and you have a very limited inventory. At the start you can only carry 2 timber for instance, and when you have upgraded to a bag, you can carry three. Most structures need 10 timber, let alone 20 wood, 20 flax, and other resources as well.
The AI is also bare, struggling with eating food, even though you might have a ton of food spread across your village.
When the NPC's are hungry, they stop working, and instead go out foraging after food. If it's winter, you have 7 days where they go across the map to find food, which makes the NPC very inefficent.
The AI voicing in this game is terrible, and breaks the feel of the game straight away, but that is not really game breaking per say.

Don't buy it yet. Even the dev said it, wait, unless you are eager to try a buggy game with little content.
I do recommend it though, it is great. But right now, it is lackluster.
Great foundations, and the dev is probably one of the more commited I've seen. So this will turn out great eventually.
My recommendation is to wait 6months, and then buy it.
You will have a way more fantastic experience.

Already very flushed out game, with just some minor issues.
If you like games like Skyrim, Heroes of might and magic, and Battle brothers, I bet you'd like this one.
It has an open world, RPG elements such as leveling up your characters, turn based strategy while in battle, quests in all forms, career choices such as chosing between trading, stealing, exploring, warring and more.
The only issue I have with it, which I expect will get fixed within a year, are as follows:
* You need to find a lot of information online, as the game doesn't really explain everything to you
* Some very minor bugs, such as getting stuck, and not being able to move, unless you rest
* More adapted quests depending on your company level

Even though this game definitely deserves a thumbs up recommendation, I believe someone needs to shed some light on the terrible language translation that is almost gamebreaking.
There are way to many moments where the translation is so bad that you basically have to roll a dice and guess what the developers mean by their choice of words.
The game has all of its fundamentals spot on, with the exception of some zoom, click and drag mechanics, that could take some inspiration from tabletop simulator.

I will change my review to a thumbs up once I see the developers actually translate the game properly into english, and/or let some third party translate the game for them.

Please do not take this review as a hate critique, and realise that this thumbs down review is only to shed some light on some of the severe errors in translation.

Listen up.
I see a lot of people complaining about the gameplay changing with updates. Buffs, nerfs etc.
The thing is, this is still a unique game. It is great. I have two friends on my list that has recommended against this game, but still play it.
The reason people really don't recommend this, is because the game is extremly punishing. Even more punishing than rewarding. It is really the essence of a hardcore experience.

What is cool about this game?
There are about 10 players give or take in one match, about five teams of two people each. The game highly favours teamplay on an organized scale. It also favours a very balanced mix of rush and stealth gameplay.
A majority of people not recommending this game, will say it is pure rush, that is simply not true.
I play stealthy, I rush, but best of all, I mix it up. People expect the game to be a straight forward stealth game, sneak all the way from point A, to point B. Sometimes we gotta be inteligent, there are times when we rush, and times where we use stealth. Depending on where the enemy is on the map, where you hear soundclues, where you see people etc, it kinda diverts your attention to wether you should play sneaky or go full running.

Now I don't know everything, but I know a good game when I see one. This is definitely worth the price, people advicing against it don't know better. You get absolutly amazing graphics, a flushed out game, with mechanics that are well thought, diversity and a good amount of hours.
Now look, Metro last light has a campaign that last from 8-30 hours depending. It costed nearly 50% more. I've put 30 hours in this game, and I can already tell, there is a lot more to be learned, and there is a lot more to experience.
It is worth the money, it is definitely worth your time. And don't get mad and call it a bad game cus it didn't fit your playstyle, you didn't win, or you personally didn't like the concept of it.

Edit: |This review will contain one small spoiler|
Content, it lacks content. Dont go away, it isnt meant offencive, it isnt ignorant of me to say that, in fact I recommend this game, just hear me out.
So what I mean that it lacks content. The grind in the first four-six hours of your gameplay is understandable. But after that you start losing interest. You've built all you can build really, except for making your raft bigger and nicer in appearance and such. ¨
The first time I built the reciver and antenna, and found the utopia building, me and my friend was like OMFG THIS GAME IS THE BEST WTF. We were so amazed cuz we didn't expect it to be a clue driven story. So we expected more naturally, but we didn't get any. We had nothing to keep us motivated. Why should we continue our journey? Simply to survive? Well if this is a survival sandbox game, I'd say minecraft is better, for now.
Now look, the concept is the best survival sandbox concept I've seen, and I think a lot of people can agree upon that. But it isn't flushed, it is lackluster, it feels empty.

My first priorities is to give players motivation to keep on going in this endless survival sandbox. Make it so that there is also one story driven objective of some sort, some clues to find. And then another one, like research a new cool thing, build a new thing, gather a new resource, find a landmark, or something.
Now I have been playing this game before it came out on steam. But, I started a new playthrough with 3 of my friends, lasted for 11 hours so far.
The biggest thing we found lacking, was the harsh survival aspect.
No one cares about food and water, that was just annoying at times. But when you are out at the open sea, why not do so that storms, rain and all such conditions affects you?
Yeah maybe do so that a storm doesn't occure before day 14 or something, but make the storm devestating. Make it so you can fall off the raft, that you can't sleep, make it intense.

I wont pretend to hold all the answeres, I really wont. And I have great faith in the developers and this game. All I wish is for it to succeed were others didn't succeed.

I will happily change my recommendation status once I know or think the developers have read this review.
I didn't recommend it simply because as any smart person would do, they prolly read the bad reviews to see what people didn't like or found critical to the game, so they can improve it.
I would love to get in contact with one or more of the developers, I think we could have a great and benefital conversation about how the game can not only become a good game, but a great one too.

♥♥♥♥♥♥ ass game.
Ran around for about 1 hour and 20 minutes, trying to harvest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
The game was so self explenatory, that I managed to do that, NOT.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hell, I bought it, I expect it to be good, and instead it hands be the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crappiest most AIDS infested piece of junk.
Holy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥, I have never been so pissed playing such a degenerate game, I honeslty lost braincells trying to figure anything out.
I COULDN'T HARVEST ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PlANT FIBER ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. How in the actual ♥♥♥♥ am I suppossed to do anything in this game, it doesn't explain the very basics of it's mechanics, and doesn't explain how the bugs and ♥♥♥♥ might affect it.

In my not so humble opinion, ♥♥♥♥ this game, don't buy it.

Slavic Nations was a DLC that got me very hyped.
Thinking it would be all new, with a new religion, units, culture and objective. I was both right and wrong.
I love the traits to the Slavic Nations, for instance the Venedians get's no penalty to agriculture (no squalor nor public order), + 100% income from farms and -50% income from industry, commerce and culture. Sounds awesome, I agree, it is.
Let's look at some of the more positive and negative things about the Slavs
Pros:
-New building tree, similar to the Germanic building tree (Alans and Burgundiands for instance)
- New religion (New challange, new religious buildings)
- New religious buildings give + lvl in fertility, which relates to where the Slavs starts
- New unit rooster
- Semi-balanced posion arrows
- Great (Arguably OP) in multiplayer custom battles
Now a lot of the things I've heard about the slavs is that their posion arrows are OP. I strongly disagree.
Poision arrows kill very slowly, indeed it does kill anyone just as fast, but that is the catch to it. Indeed it does exhaust a unit when hit, but 50%-75% of the times you actually use the arrows effectivly, you will more than likely hit your own unit a couple of times, and exhaust it. There are no fireshots, standard shots etc. It is a slow, risky but if used correctly, powerfull unit. The slavs have no other archers in the campaign when upgrading to slavic archers. The levy archers (The worst archers in-game with standard shot) disappear.
Cons
-Terrible diversity in unit rooster. In campaign this is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idiotic. One horse unit, one archer unit, one skirmish unit and one artrillery unit. Is this some sick joke put up by CA?
-Huns are gonna spawn in your territory with massive amounts of tier 3 cav that is considered somewhat OP. And they are gonna spawn with heavy onagers and tier 3 infantery. You are not simply gonna go one army versus one army no matter how good your units are, simply because your ranged units sucks ♥♥♥♥♥, and you have no cav.

Conclusion
Get more unit diversity, tweak the posion arrows a tiny bit down, some nerfing and buffing needs to be done on those, slow killrate, ignores missile block chance, exhaust at one hit etc.
Get some cav, some ranged units and maybe make Attila killable. After year 432 AD, you get tired of only wounding him, watching the Huns jump from strenght ranking 54 to strenght ranking 2-3 in one turn. The mechanics where you kill of hunnic armies one after one, and they spawn a couple of more stacks in your territory is terrible. It simply makes me want to not recommend Attila at all. Since the Huns are unbeatable in some sense.
But I bet there will be patches to fix some of this problems, and at it's current state, I'd say it is in the Top 3 DLC's in Attila for now. 6.5/10

You know you have those games which gives you many easy rewards, and few setbacks, and those games that gives you hard rewards and a lot of setbacks. For first person shooters, that would be like comparing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. Well, Banished feels like Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. Very time consuming, demands a lot of patience, micro management, creativity, solutions and so on. But even though you may be doing everything as good as possible, something sets you back. Winter is coming, a fire, a disease or what have you. Get trough these setbacks, keep on flurishing, and the rewards feels o so better.

I really like this games concept, though I can say I am not a total fan of such genres, this one deserves a try. I tried it for about 8 hours, didn't play it one hour more since that time, simply because you realize that even though the game is good, not every good game is appealing to you. Just like I love games like CS:GO, Planetside 2, I simply can't stand Battlefield 4 even though it is a fantastic game.

But if you like hard achiving rewards, a lot of setbacks, but a ever so tasty sense of achivement, this game certainly is your ultimate city building stratergy game!
