Unforgiving but so thrilling !

Can't for the ♥♥♥♥ of me make it to the vault without mods though. A little too unforgiving. Given how wide this world is and how much luck you'll need, I wish some things got balanced, but then again, maybe it wouldnt be as thrilling if it was easier.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mecanics make it so that only 1/100 runs are satisfying or somewhat playable. Way too many random elements make it for the worst as some additions are plainly useless (lol let's add content just for the sake of adding stuff and not improving the quality of the game).

I'll pass the details but the item pools probability are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ broken, the items themselves are complete fillers, the pills system is way2randumb to serve any actual purpose and the rogue like elements aint enough to bring anything fresh to the many runs you may play.

And how do you justify the fact that some items are total game-changers while almost all the rest is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fillers? Some items only giving like a third of the effect other items have ? And of course, with the same probability of getting these items ? Nawman. Way too much content doesn't especially means better content and this game is flagrant example of such instances.

The artistic direction is nice and the music are great, the universe and immersion are sorta cool, but just for all of these bullcrap reasons I've discovered after hours and hours of playing, I'm giving this one a no-go.

Cause I feel i've wasted way too many time on that game,
most of which I didn't really enjoy as it was spending 70% of my time trying to get a satisfying run, finding one, having random turns of events completely ruining it midway and starting over again. Cause yeah, it aint about losing, it's about having fun during the whole thing. The gameplay changes drastically between one run another. Just playing with ipeac and soymilk, for instance makes it much more ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ enjoyable than fooling around with some slight variations on your tears, their speed, their damages, rates, etc.

I'm done with this crap.

Nice game but full of annoying and frankly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ bugs and glitches. I wish the devs would fix that instead of adding more and more stuff that you'll eventually lose for no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason.

Feels like Star Trek man. This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ great and you should have a really great time playing it. Well, until you reach the final sector. It's piss-easy until you have to fight the final boss which is basically impossible de beat unless you're lucky, have the perfect crew and maxed systems and an arsenal able to pierce through all its shield (super shields might I add), its countless drones coming outta his ass (nowhere) and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rain of missiles.

So to the casual player I'd recommand it, but to anyone who really want to beat this game, I wouldn't recommand it.

Otherwise if you alt f4 just before the final sector you should have a great deal of fun. Really.

Great atmosphere, gameplay and story ! Love this game !

But i'd still give it a 8.5/10. Some things need to be fixed.
First of all, MOAR CLASSES. I know this is something big, but why not splitting the mage class in two different classes, one with the "attack spells and buffs" and the other with the invocations/summonings ?
Secondly, I think it would be cool if rare drop actually looked better. I mean, instead of adding some blue here and there on the item's skin, make it beautiful !
Other than that, I don't have much to say. Awesome work.

Updated cause the game was in early access and it's gone a long way since

Still a great ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game let me tell ya. A bit addictive, but maybe it's just me.
Anyway. The art direction is great and that might be why I love it so much.

But then I have a complaint, still.
It's the stillness. Supposedly, dissonant forces are acting out, life is going on, yet all is so still in this game. They'd have you think that unseen forces are acting out, plotting on and moving in the shadows, yet... The illusion's broken now. The pngs with their predi ctable speech have no idle animation. Same for the enemies. They're just standing there, waiting for you. You'd find burning barricades around, nothing's moving. The aetherial forces are not trying to take up on Homestead, what little fights between factions you can see is kinda broken and off, well, the game aint go much life to it. It looks splendid, it's captivating, it's really well thought and can keep nerds on the edge for hours and hours on, yet, the life in this game is out the picture, cause all is so still once you get past the graphical aspect of it.

Woulda been great if there was for instance more neutral wildlife going on around, if some creatures/enemies had idle animations and actual stuff to do beside breathing and waiting for you to obliterate them, like sliths hunting preys, or boars grazing, etc... Woulda been great too if there was more life and diverse lines with the pngs, they're just all waiting like eejits around, never doing a thing. Same with the missions. You supposedly help em out and make their faction stronger yet nothing changes. They don't move, their bases look identical, etc. The only example of that I have is when you help the folks out in devil's crossing with the fabric in burrwitch and then Devil's crossing is looking a wee nicer with patchwork rugs thrown around everywhere.

You'd have expected the rovers to move their asses up and claim the territory once darius and his gang fell, yet they don't. IT's the little things. It's the stillness. I hope I'm being clear here. THe stillness breaks the lore for me, because it makes it untangible and not something you experience in game.

Naturally I talk here about what I don't like about it (although it's my favourite game) because I think it deserves a honest critique and through the 4 years of playing I musta become a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ grim dawn specialist. But anyway. although the end game mechanics are the most important ones, I feel ike I'm running outta steam already, cause of the aftermentioned reasons. No regrets though. Good game. Just don't think I'll be rocking it no more like I used to.
