That's statement is not necessarily accurate, instead it's taken the life of Valve's.

Do not waste your money on this game.
Not only has SEGA taken out features of the game present on the GameCube version and locked it behind DLC, half of the time "Sonic2App.exe has stopped working" cuts gameplay short in many areas.

Worse, saves are NOT uploaded to the Steam Cloud, so if you need to delete local content and reinstall, your saves are often permanently deleted.

You're much better off emulating this on Dolphin.

Garry's mod is listed as having support for SteamOS and Linux, however lack of development and negligence of bugs in the Linux port of the game says otherwise.
Keeping this review negative until Facepunch either removes the indication of "support", or actually steps up their game.

Absolutely amazing.
I am a crackhead ♥♥♥♥♥ for lore, and this game is 9000 lines for me.

Why is this game good?
1. Paced to you. How quickly you progress through the game (multiple times over) is purely dependent on how skilled you are. Every child you play as will keep the gold from their deceased parent, so you decide when to challenge the bosses. Theoretically, you could buy every single upgrade (would take a very long time on your first run) before defeating a single boss, making it childs-play to defeat.

2. Extreme replayability. After you beat the game, there is a New Game +, basically means you keep your upgrades, and you get to play the game again. Gold collection is spiked, but so are enemies. I'm currently on my third runthrough of it.

3. Good controls. Although there is no mouse support for the game, playing the game feels solid with a controller (not so much with a keyboard, but still playable).

4. Good soundtrack. 'Nuff said.

5. Linux, SteamOS, and as before mentioned, full controller support.

6. Graphics fit well, the developers knew when more pixels were appropriate.

All in all, would recommend, 9/10 (lack of mouse support in menus kinda sucks). Definitely give this one a go, even if not on sale.

Would recommend? If it's on sale, give it a go. Otherwise, it's worth the wait.

10/10 would become emotionally attached to quadrilaterals again.

Although this game might not be the action packed platformer you are craving for, this game's art style, the music, and the overall feel of the game makes you keep coming back for more. Definitely invest in a controller for this one.
