Big fan of platformers, especially 3D here, but I did not grow up with Okami. Let me tell you about my first experience with Okami.

So I went in blind, other than like, knowing that the game existed and stuff. And this game? If you haven't played it before, but you were a 3D platformer child, I'm telling you, this is like experiencing a new game in your childhood as an adult. Though it is from the era of my childhood, but regardless. If you played stuff like Spyro: A Hero's Tail, Neopets: The Darkest Faerie, Scaler, the Zelda series, and/or other such games, this has gameplay elements reminiscent of those. As well, if you messed around in your childhood like I did, there's mechanics for you there too. A button that makes Okami bark? Yes please. Solid gameplay, quality puzzles, challenging but not infuriating battle mechanics, progression via earning and learning new abilities. All the makings of a great 3D platformer. Oh, yes. And music.

Okami going multi-platform has been a wonderful experience to me, as again, I hadn't played it growing up. Multiple options for new players, however... If I had to say my biggest gripe, it would be control scheme inconsistencies across platforms, with no apparent option to adjust one to match the others, resulting in muscle memory confusion when playing on a different system. That is the only thing I would change. I would love to have the same experience, no matter the platform I take with me and play the game on.

Overall, I can't really find anything particularly negative to say about the game, other than the above, and the space requirements. Otherwise, if you have the space, and you love the genre, absolutely give Okami a try, and go on an exciting Japanese adventure!
