Barely functional, took multiple times to get running, loading into a lobby takes an extremely long time and fails most of the time. Game launches on steam, then closes, then opens Ubisoft's launcher THEN launches the game again. Like, I don't mind the secondary launcher but wow is that an awkward way to do it.

Fast paced, hectic MMBN-style game. Very high barrier to entry but feels good to get better at. Kind of wish updates came out quicker, but the game is honestly feature-complete save, for hopefully some netplay. Steam's remote play isn't good enough for a game that requires as much speed and precision as this, but multiplayer is a side-feature anyway.

Like, look at it this way, if your friendship was so frail that it could be shattered by something as small as having your stars stolen by Poppo just before you could Norma 3 times in a row, were you really friends to begin with?

Okay, so, this is quite a difficult game to recommend.

The gameplay is excellent. While very obviously based on Chivalry's mechanics it elevates them in various ways. Chambering is a lot of fun, and fights feel really fast paced and intense. The variety of weapons and items to play around with are varied and interesting and you could spend hours coming up with loadouts which all dictate your playstyle.

So why is this game a difficult recommend? Two main reasons.

The developers are very clearly inexperienced. They've made quite a few big fumbles, more in terms of...public interaction than with actual their game, but it's concerning to say the least.

Secondly, once again, I'm not sure if I can say this is not the fault of the game itself because as I said, it is excellent, but you will meet some of the worst human beings in this game. Everything you've heard about the toxicity and racism in the game's community is absolutely true. That isn't to say there are no good people here but as of this writing there is absolutely no deterrent to poor behavior. People will constantly spout vitriol, and grief their teammates without any repercussions. The official servers are completely devoid of moderation and the only tool you have to deal with this are votekicks, which are not only worthless and easily evaded, they are frequently abused by griefers. The devs have posted a development log that mentioned that they're working on more tools to deal with this situation, but until then, the most important advice I can give is that if you do want to get this game and aren't good with dealing with toxic people, disable the chat in the options.

So in spite of that, I still have so much fun with this game so it pains me that this is one of my most hesitant recommendations, but for now I will recommend the game. If matters continue to deteriorate as they are then I may have to change that.

Wow. This is a weird thing to suddenly see on Steam. I remember reading this like 8 or so years ago. It was a great read then and still is now.

The Dandelion Girl is a short and sweet kinetic visual novel about a man on vacation and his brief encounters with a strange girl he meets in a dandelion field. You can easily get through it in a single sitting and it's free so absolutely try it out.

Oh, and while this is a pretty thorough adaptation of it, I do also highly recommend reading the short story of the same name by Robert F. Young that this VN is based on.

I liked the parts where Chelshia punched a monster girl.

Battlerite is a pretty fun multiplayer online battle arena game, or MOBA for short. Not to be confused with Moba which according to my research is some kind of pagan sadomasochistic ritual where you angrily click on things for 40 minutes in order to create precious metals and diamonds?

Er, that aside, Battlerite is a 2v2 or 3v3 PVP game where you're locked in a small arena and must defeat your opponents with your chosen character. It controls and feels a lot like an ARPG, but requires the reflexes and predictive ability of a fighting game. Each match is very fast paced and short enough that it never quite drags on. You get one life. You die and you're done for the round. First team to wipe loses the round, and final winner is determined best out of 5 rounds.

Now on to monetization. Game uses the typical Free Character Rotation system with the usual option to unlock characters with money or earned ingame currency. Hard to say how quick hero acquisition is yet. Some characters seem a bit pricey, but I've gotten at least one random one for free. As for microtransactions, well...

The game has loot boxes. They're completely cosmetic which is perfectly acceptable to me, but I know there are some people who have a...thing when it comes to lootboxes. Ultimately, yeah, lootboxes are lootboxes and they are a bit predatory by nature, but eh, you get a ton for free and it really doesn't impact the game in any way so I really don't care.

Anyway, yeah. I'm having quite a bit of fun with this game so far. It's fast, it's fun. It's also free. Couldn't hurt to try either way.

So, I played this about a week before it got released on Steam and I loved every moment of it.

Doki Doki PoetryLiterature Club is a VN about reading and writing poetry in a club with cute kowaii anime girls. Really though, this VN came out of nowhere and surprised me with its excellent writing and brilliant storytelling. It's a great read even if you're not into poetry. The moment I finished going through my first route, I could not resist immediately going back in to see more. It just absolutely draws you in. It's a wonderful read and it makes me happy to see more OELVNs of such quality showing up.

It goes without saying, I HIGHLY recommend it.

Best Girl: Monika. Just Monika. There's not even a real choice. Anyone who says otherwise has terrible taste.
