A game like this is not for everyone. It encourages waiting, relaxing, and walking for long distances. In an age where gameplay and media are getting faster, and attention spans are getting shorter and shorter, this game has really helped my patience and focus.

The gameplay loop is walking and exploring, between hunting an animal and setting up a perfect shot, before the tense moment of taking your chance and testing your aim and awareness. The animals can usually detect you before you ever get close, so it truly takes awareness and caution to line up a kill.

Good crisp sound design, amazing visuals and varied environments, and picturesque moments during a constant day/night cycle. This is the only game I have where I purposely pulled out the camera to take some stunning pictures of trees and rocks and other otherwise uninteresting things.

It has flaws, like varying quality between reserves. A few bugs, nothing game-breaking. Performance also is somewhat of an issue depending on your build. There also have been concerning reports of the developers not fixing ages-old issues or abandoning certain content. However, as the game is now, I have enjoyed it very much despite all this.

My Review of Weapon Pack #2:

Out of all the weapon packs so far, even until the emerald coast update, this one certainly may be the best. And for a simple reason: The Drilling rifle is adaptable.

Grelck Drilling Gun-

- Using any 16-gauge shotgun ammo, it already covers every standard needed for a good 2-shot double barrel shotgun.
- The unique single shot 9.3x74R ammo covers classes 5-9, all late prey classes, making it possible to forgo a rifle entirely for a hunting setup.
- The ammo itself isn't very accurate and is affected by bullet drop a little more then dedicated alternatives in the rifle category, but is more then sufficient for any situation with large game. The ammo itself is expensive, $610 and $880 for 10x expansion and penetration bullets respectively.
- Comes with a unique drilling scope you can put on the gun.

Overall: Incredible gun. This weapon alone makes the pack worth it.

Solokhin MN1890-

- 7.62 Ammo is somewhat versatile, having similar penetration and expansion, with one of the only ammo types where there is no choice between two types meant for a specific purpose. Covering classes 3-7, this rifle covers a sizeable amount of animals within the game, just short of being able to hunt moose without harvest check penalty. Relatively cheap at $380, too.
- Normal bolt-action reload timing, not too long or short.
- Compatible with most rifle scopes.

Overall: Decent, feels good to shoot. Handsome and good for any nagant fan.

(Note: I have a glitch where the insides of the firing chamber show potentially broken vertexes when reloading with this gun. I do not know if this is my problem alone, but I do hope it will be fixed.)

Mangiafico 410 revolver:

- .45 Flat nose hard cast bullets priced average at $530, covering classes 2-5, good for all small game.
- The ,410 Birdshot capacity is surprisingly useful, the gun having more capacity then most shotguns in the game, makes it a very good option for downing flocks rapidly. Ammo is cheap, $200.
- Worth mentioning that I wish most guns had the same skin variation that this one does.

Overall: Solid and creative option to current sidearms, and the skins are nice.

Verdict: Get this pack for the Drilling rifle. The nagant is okay, the pistol has a unique gimmick, this makes the weapon pack alone worth the price. I hope that the Nagant glitch I keep seeing is fixed, but it may just be me. I have no friends.

My Review of the Modern Rifle Pack:

The Modern Rifle pack is, like all DLCs, not necessary. Although it adds interesting rifle types, you do not need any of them to perform well in the game. These guns have some consistently good traits, like all being fast magazine-based reloads, and two out of the three having pinpoint accuracy at the maximum value of 100. Most attachments for rifles work with these.

ZARZA .22LR:
-Only using .22LR bullets, this rifle is only suited to at best, shooting at small game like birds and rabbits, being class 1 ammunition exclusively.
With the existence of birdshot shells for shotguns, This ammunition in general suffers in usefulness outside of trying to hit small game from long distances, and because of the nature of small bullets vs birdshot, you may waste time chasing a bleeding bird instead of it dying quickly. On the plus side, the bullets are very cheap, with an outstanding $200 for 10x expansion and $250 for 10x Penetration.
- Reload is fast and 5 rounds is not bad. The gun is also precise, with maximum (100) accuracy value.

Verdict: Ho-hum, extremely niche and specific rifle use. Weakest addition in the pack, in my opinion.

ZARZA-15 .223:
- M16-style rifle using .223 rounds that cover prey classes 2-4, which means that everything from red fox to boars and pigs is covered. There are better ammunition types, but at least a decent chunk of animals are covered. Use a different weapon for larger game; wolves and above will give you integrity penalties. Ammunition is cheap, with $220 and $350 for 10x Expansion and Penetration rounds respectively.
- Fast reload, 5 bullets in a mag, and accuracy at the maximum value.

Verdict: A decent gun for the ammo class it covers. Smashes the M16 look, in my opinion.

ZARZA-10 .308:
- .308 ammo covers classes 4-8, which means it can hunt everything up from fallow deer to Moose and Elk. Most diverse class variation between all the other rifles. The ammo is not cheap, with prices of $690 and $850 for 10x expansion and penetration rounds respectively.
- Fast reload again, 5 rounds in the mag. It is worth mentioning that this gun has much less accuracy then its brothers in this pack, with a jarring at first glance 45 accuracy to their 100. However, this is a tradeoff because of the powerful ammunition.

Verdict: Good. Still the most accurate .308 rifle in the game, although we only have two, and accuracy in general does not matter in this game unless you are shooting from extremely long (350m+) distances.

Overall: Okayish. The guns are useful for their niches and the accuracy for the lower class ammunition guns is appealing. However, many guns in the game perform their jobs with more diversity and efficiency.

My Review of the Assorted Sidearms Pack:

As usual, there is no 'need' to get any DLC, let alone this one, in this game, the base game covers everything. For this pack specifically, the reasons I would advise getting it if you are interested are style (.45 Rolleston) And convenience (10MM Davani) Specifically.

.45 Rolleston-
The reason why I got this pack (I like revolvers)
- .45 covers prey class 2-5, which means that it can handle everything from red fox to mountain lions/wolves. A relatively good spread of animals, relatively middle of the line price at 10x expansion bullets for $530, 10x Penetration bullets for $600.
- Reload animation is long, sometimes can be a pain to sit through for only five bullets in chamber, but the animation is quite beautiful.
- No attachments at all can be applied to this gun, as it should be realistically.

(Interesting note: When the gun has no bullets in the chamber, the player will perform a unique spinning animation where he plays with the revolver, twirling it stylishly. Despite having a six-chambered cylinder, the player loads five, realistically using a "cowboy load", a technique single action revolvers generally use to prevent accidental discharge. The attention to this is amazing.)
Verdict: Average to maybe even underperforming sidearm, makes it up with a lot of style.

10MM Davani:
- 10MM bullets cover a range of 2-6, and can hunt all the .45 can, and additionally hunt larger prey like Red Deer and even alligators without penalty. Ammo is cheap as well, at $280 for 10x Expansion bullets and $300 for 10x Penetration.
- Short reload, at 15 bullets a mag. Incredible convenience, truly a modern firearm.
- Can attach a specific Davani reflex sight, with 80 accuracy, this makes the gun good for much longer distances then the effective range implies.

Verdict: The star of this pack. Excellent in any situation and very fast.

.243 Cuomo:
- Being essentially a pocket version of the very first rifle you get, the .243 ammunition is versatile and good for classes 2-6, able to hunt most animals without penalty. The prices are the same as the starting rifle, with expansion rounds being $0 and the penetration rounds being $530.
- A single shot gun with a relatively fast reload. Not fast enough most of the time to go for follow-up shots, but certainly not extremely slow.
- Rifle scopes work with this pistol and can be used varyingly.

Verdict: This gun functions as a pocket ranger .243 and weighs 2.5 less weight value. Decent, but nothing too special.

Overall: Good pack. Would recommend if you have some cash to burn, and want more sidearm variation.

The game is just as fun as I remember, the combat systems haven't changed. The game would have done well, if not better, if the actual 3d models were utilized instead of sprites, imo, but regardless: Now it's all in HD, with a loading time of less then 5 seconds and smooth 60 frames (GTX 1060). I've been having a lot of fun with this beat-em-up port. But: With that said, there are some glaring criticisms.

-Artifacts from the original port are still there, and still outstanding. The pixelation being the most obvious, especially in the cutscenes.

-The voices and sound effects also seem to have noticeable compression as well; Thankfully, this does not apply to the soundtrack.

-The game does not seem to have (good) mouse/keyboard, or remapping support. Perhaps I'm being hasty, but I noticed no guide to the controls in regards to the keyboard as well.

-Perhaps it's just me, but the songs don't loop, leaving one track to play to the end, and dead silence for the rest of the time spent in an instance, even in the menus.

- No English voice-overs? The original game possessed this, and I combed the settings, but found nothing related to it.

Granted, there's still more for me to explore. Despite all these shortcomings, I'm still enjoying myself greatly.

EDIT: The changes made to the burst system hurt the gameplay somewhat, and the fixed stat up system also is a bit of a turn-off. Still recommended, though.

In DMCV, you play as V, who is obviously the main character since his name is clearly in the title. Read poems, throw birds at people, and use your cat as a rotating saw to make it to Ergil, the final boss.

Also has some minor characters no one cares about, like that Dan-te person and Nelo.

First things first, I am not a Touhou fan.

Second things second, I am not a fan of bullet hell shooters.

With these two things in mind, I still recommend this game. That's how much fun I had.

Tenshi kicks some major ass.
