Thought provoking and fun, I would recommend DE to anyone that enjoys narrative games. The voice acting and art direction are extremely strong. Even though the mood is somber, the world is filled with moments of hope if you're willing to accept them.

I would love to give this a positive review at the moment. I loved what I played of the demo, and the betas ran well for me. The game looked and played great, even in spite of the insane amount of people that made the servers struggle. That being said, the full release of this game crashes for me pretty consistently (D3D Fatal Error 25). I haven't changed any settings since my time in the demo and beta. The only thing that has changed is, as what I have heard was a surprise last minute addition, Denuvo. The meme anti-piracy software that gets cracked in a week and absolutely cripples the performance of any game it's a part of. Although I can't say for certain that it's the reason I'm struggling now, it's the only obvious change come the full release. I was even crashing in the Character Creator of all things. Please just get rid of this software.

I get the same error while trying to play RE4R, and it just makes me completely lose interest in continuing with the game. I would love to just be able to enjoy what I know is a good game without having to reset the game, or even my entire PC, every hour or so after a crash.

EDIT: So, I was about to fix this "issue." Again, this was only an issue I was having with RE Engine games with higher fidelity, not anything else. I happened to put my PC through a fresh install, and that solved the issue completely. My guess is that there was some weird reading going on, but I have no clue since uninstalling and reinstalling my GPU drivers beforehand had no effect.
The game in its current state is solid, with my main complaints being the Drive Parry function (I would like a high and low parry) and the FULL PRESENCE OF A F2P MICROTRANSACTION MARKET IN THIS FULLY PRICED GAME. The currency and the overall lack of content worth buying is baffling to me. There is way too much of a focus on avatar content when most people will never be seeing their avatar when playing the game. Currencies can barely be earned as things currently stand. I've relatively consistently played the game since release, and I've earned maybe 22000 Drive Tickets...which gets you maybe two sets of character colors for their default costumes...that imo should be unlocked by default.
Overall, fun game, annoying mtx economy

TL;DR this game has a pretty strong core surrounded my mediocrity. UI, monetization, gameplay choices, and absolutely GUTTED customization system make what would otherwise be an average multiplayer shooter experience somewhat disheartening. Perhaps it will be better in a few months, but I don't think I will be playing it by then.

EDIT: I completely forgot to mention how weird it is that the standard format seems to be 4v4. It's not as if multiplayer games are being held back by how many players consoles can handle anymore. It feels like they're trying to lean too hard into a competitive environment when that's not remotely close to what about Halo multiplayer has always entertained me.

If this was a completely new title, I would be more forgiving. A new, free to play shooter with fun mechanics and premium cosmetics? That's fine with me. Splitgate is exactly that and I absolutely love it. All of the new weapons, equipment, and gamemodes are fun and feel good, but anything that has been in the previous Halo titles feels wrong. The grav hammer in particular feels clunky and weak, the energy sword similarly lacks energy in its animations, and I'm sure I don't have to add to the absolute mountain of complaints regarding the cosmetics...but I will. I unlocked the Fractre: Tenrai samurai armor, and that's when I realized that not only can we not customize the armor with the colors we want, but you can't even mix and match armor pieces due to the "Armor Core" system. Also, as of this review the samurai armor doesn't even reflect the body type you've chosen for your spartan. Like I said, if this was a new title made by a smaller studio, I would be fine with this, but comparing this to the Halo games on Xbox 360 just makes me feel jilted. The MCC had a similarly underwhelming customization system on release that completely turned me off to the game. The unforgiving battle pass system exacerbates this issue, since leveling it up takes an absurd amount of time partially due to the fact that progression is tied to challenges instead of the matches themselves.

The UI and default keybinds felt particularly frustrating to me due to little things that end up compounding. The menu navigation doesn't feel intuitive to me. For example, customizing the armor and body type seem like they should be within the same menu. I didn't quite understand why the Armor Hall brought me to Armor Cores instead of choosing my helmets until, as I mentioned previously, I realized that each Armor Core has pieces you have to unlock and that can only be applied to THAT core. Just...no yeah that's stupid. This is a nitpick, but I hate that the equipment switching keybinds are the number keys on the keyboard, when that is typically reserved for switching weapons. Just a very weird default choice to me that feels like they're trying to change the standard for no reason other than to change it.

Final note...WOW is the AI companion voice absolutely grating. The only acceptable one I've listened to as been the butler voice, but most of the others immediately available to the player have cringeworthy dialogue choices and voice performances that don't delve far enough into absurdity to be ironically funny to listen to.

Honestly a difficult game to get into at first as long as you don't have the patience to sit down and play it, but probably the most rewarding feeling FPS I've played. Way more of a relaxed time than people think, so just give it a chance.

They unironically use "glomp" in the English translation and it still managed to captivate me completely. Use the original sprites.

I played the demo in front of Itsuno and failed spectacularly. I then played through the entire game series and rewatched the anime in preparation for this game to come out. It somehow exceeded my already rose-tinted expectations. It delivers on everything you'd want from a proper DMC sequel....

now if only Capcom would deliver DMC5SE to us as well
