NOT FOR FULL PRICE. THIS IS A SALE GAME.

Pros: the graphics are excellent and the game is faithfully updated

Cons: Those faithful updates reveal a lot of early 00's gameplay

If you enjoyed the original you'll enjoy this. The story is subpar, the missions are short, but the atmosphere and dated humor help to bring life to a game - something I rarely see. The gameplay is...mixed. Most of the guns and the saucer is fun but there are flaws. Some guns IMO are basically useless, specifically the probe gun. The saucer sections are a nice change but if you don't fully destroy a building it will eventually regenerate its health which is...weird. I had one or two bugs, specifically the last mission I had some MAJOR slowdowns when there were a lot of explosions and effects, but it only happened twice and was over in less than a second. I did have one mission early on where the optional objective was bugged. I had to restart the mission three times before I could get it to work.


Final verdict: If you get it on sale for $15 it's worth it. Not worth $30 unless you're a big fan of the series.

Okay, let's address the elephant in the room. The story here is garbage. It's cliched, nonsensical at times and mildly amusing at it's absolute best. The game also runs like a hot mess. I frequently experienced stuttering especially in Sanctuary but all over. And yet I still played it for 77 hours at the time of this review. The gameplay is so satisfying, the gunplay strong, the sliding and climbing leading to new strats and fast-paced fun.

If you like Borderlands, you'll like this. But if you liked it for it's story...well prepared to be disappointed

The game is stunning and *mostly* a faithful recreation of the originals. Apart from an odd glitch or two I didn't experience anything game-breaking or any crashes throughout Spyro 1.

It's Halo. Buy it

This is the first game I've ever refunded on steam, and one of the few I've ever preordered. I am a big MK fan, I've played most of them over the years, and after MK X was finally fixed it was a decent if not good game. This on the other hand, fails to impress. For $100 USD I am expecting a polished game on release. That is not what I got. Firstly, the game did not release at midnight as it did on consoles; instead, PC players were expected to wait anywhere from a few to over 12 hours to play. This is unacceptable in 2019. Secondly, the game runs poorly and looks noticeably worse than any other version except the Switch. Again, unacceptable in 2019. The art style of the game is bright and cartoon-like, a departure from MK X's realistic tone (This is more of a personal gripe but still something I do not like.)

The entire game is stuffed to the brim with every trope you can think of. Microtransactions? Everywhere. Grind? Literally everywhere. Denuvo? Oh yeah it's got that too.

The developers have said they intend to fix the balancing issues and currency (kurrency?) problems. I don't care. They are only fixing it because of the backlash, much like they kept it underwraps as long as possible because they KNEW there would be a backlash.

I would recommend to wait until a GOTY or heavily discounted version is available. It is not worth $60 USD, let alone $100 USD for the Premium Edition. I'm reinstalling MK X. I'm more than happy to play that until MK 11 becomes worth the money - if it ever does at all.

WB Games and Netherrealm basically dropped all support. We get no new patches, DLC, etc.. I would honestly recommend MKX if they continued support, but I can't condone nor support buying a game where you will not get what you pay for. I won't be buying another port of theirs until they give us what we paid for.


UPDATE: They listened. now that theuy've fixed it I can say it's worth it.

Short but fun. Really only suitable for longtime fans of the series willing to overlook its many flaws
