I am about 11 hours into the game and have been enjoying it so far. If you enjoy dungeon crawlers like Legend of Grimrock, Wizardry and similar titles there is very little reason to not pick up this game. It "feels" short so maybe try to get it on sale.

Great quality of life information:

The game allows you to reset all your skill points and stat points at any point to try new things. Talent trees and everything can be swapped around and redone at any time and any place outside of combat.

Early into the game you get the ability to fast travel to any map or area you have been to before. This allows you to not have to get too concerned about making sure you have every nook and cranny checked for secrets on the way through. FYI: Some secrets require later items to gain access to.

Biggest thumbs down so far for me:

A large portion of the enemies in the game can summon minions. The minions act as soon as they are summoned which means there is no lost "action economy" for the creature. He uses his action to summon and the summon immediately acts. You do not get extra experience, loot or gold for killing summoned monsters.

Sometimes a normal pack turns into a long boring drawn out battle because the summoned creatures use skills to protect their summoner. Which means you need to try to kill the monster faster than they can summon. This can get very tedious and I only had it happen a total of 3-4 times in the 11 hours. Every time it did happen just took me out of so much that I can basically remember each time.

That's all I really have to say. Thanks!

I just gtot through finishing this game on very hard for my first playthrough. I found the game by chance via a youtbue video by ChristopherOdd.

If you enjoy tactical RPGs like Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, etc, you will most likely enjoy this game. I will say it feells very sluggish compared to XCom and other series. That is due to the focus on exploration and stealth.

-Not really spoiler comments below just mechanics and FYI stuff-

Creatures has an aggro radius outside of combat and an alert radius once combat starts. You are able to sneak around and quietly take out patrols to help cut down large groups into smaller chunks. This is what causes the slowdown feel.

I did not gani enough levels to learn every single ability but I got "the good ones" and some situational ones. There appears to be enough collectibles in the game to get every upgrade in the town, or maybe one short. I probably missed the one collectible for the ability I did not have.

All I all I enjoyed the game, both the story and the gameplay. Just expect to spend a lot of time wandering through areas looking for shinies (figuratively and literally).

The important thing to know when starting out is:

You can only use abilities IN COMBAT/AMBUSH. Being in combat or having someone in ambush allows your party to use their abilities, regardless of where they are on the map.

I purchased this game for $2.50 on sale on Chrono GG.

The only reason I am giving it a positive review is due to how little I paid for it.

This is basically a turn based version of "This War of Mine" and I don't see the Final Fantasy influences they are refering to.
Overall it's a decent game if you get it cheap. My biggest complaint is the terrible terrible interface. I use a mouse and keyboard to play (really just the mouse, point and click) due to the controller being so bad.

While using the controller I could never tell where it was on the screen, making it very hard to control. Using the mouse is still pretty terrible. Nothing is really intuitive. For example, I click my melee weapone expecting it to open the weapon menu and show me all the weapons I can use. It doesn't, you need to open your inventory first then select the weapon. Only then does it auto sort and show you.

I know that sounds petty but when you're managering 7-10 guys, swapping gear in between and you add 2-3 clicks into every equip it adds up quickly.

For $10+, I'd pass, but dirt cheap is enough to get over the slow and slightly weird animations and the rough interface.

EDITE NOTES: Corrected some typoes.

Once of the few roguelikes that I have played that seem "fair". As some of the reviews said, combine combat with hearthstone and it's similar. A lot of the deaths you're going to run into in the game are going to be your own fault. Either you made bad choices of cards, relics or paths or you got too greedy.

Basically every death I have had I could go "Yup, that's my fault". Either for not realizing X or Y happened and I auto piloted something.

I understand the game is still in early access but I've already "beaten" it a few times. The price does seem a bit high for something you can get to the end too in an hour. I hope when it's completed the "runs" last longer.

I am going to preface this by saying I have beaten Demon Souls, Dark Souls 1, 2 and 3.

Do not waste your time on this game. It's a frustrating cluster F of a game when compared to the above. Some points of interest for this statement:

1) No "homeward bone". Accidentally wander into a boss area with a bunch of scrap and die? Can't beat the boss due to X? Kiss them good bye. There is no way (that I have found) to reclaim them without beating the boss.

2) Enemy placement is absolute garbage. Practically every pull and encounter is an ambush situation. Every corner hs a hidden enemy. You like bridges? We have 5 enemies on our bridges. Some of this is being overly dramatic but it turns the entire game that I have played so far into a INCH FORWARD SLOG. I can understand hard but not stupid.

3) The gear is boring. Do you like the same piece of gear reskinned a few times with slightly different stats? Do you want to keep using the same weapon the entire game you have been because the late game reskins are worse? Welcome aboard.

Basically the only thing I liked about it was the ability to bank souls/scrap. Everything else... just... so so frustrating and aggravating. Try it if you can get it for $15 or less, otherwise pass.

For a $60 price tag this game is not worth it. You're able to get a 100% completion of everything between 15 and 20 hours, without guides if you have a good idea for items on the walls for the collection quests. The ending was abrupt and just an END. No real closure.

The combat system is frustrating due to the how your attacks hit. Most attacks can only hit someone on the same line to you, left and right, or directly above/below you. Very few "classes" are able to able to attack at angles and sometimes this results in passing turns with three of four guys because you can't get someone "in range".

If this was $20 or even $30 I could give it a thumbs up, overlooking these issues for the "value but at full price this was a let down in most departments.

First of all let me say that I am not familiar with the lore or Warhammer at all, really.

With that knowledge I enjoyed the game but it has some very large issues which makes you want to uninstall it or smash it frequently. These include the random nature of it (95% chance to hit and I miss three times? Not DODGED, flat out missed). The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ actions the computer takes (I am in Ambush stance, the computer moves a guy perfectly along my threat area just enough to get behind me and hit my weak guy I was protecting with the ambush).

Various other things like not being able to climb a ladder because one of your guys is too close to it, which I mean he is 5 meters away but I cannot takes within his aura. This includes looting, climbing, etc.

I have put a lot of time into this game and about 40% of the time I hate and the other 60% I enjoy it.

My absolute largest complaints are the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ "balance" the game does. No matter the difficulty the computer always has a stat advantage just because it's the computer. Not to mention the computer matches your own loadout. I bring three heros? They bring three Heros. I bring a leader, an impression and nothing else, they do the same thing. Rather than code some thought process into it the game just copies you.

This game is a test of your patience. I failed that test. I restarted multiple times trying to enjoy the game but I just can't. The start of the game is laughably difficult in terms of your people dying from most encounters. "Death" is very soft in this game, you can rest to "revive" but the game uses that as an excuse to be able to just blow you up since revival is a rest away.

This game also gives you very little direction. I don't need my hand held but SOME indication of where I need to go would be helpful. I had to save, then just run around EVERYWHERE trying to find a new place to go that wasn't blocked off by an "impossible" (the rating the game gave the monster) fight; or by a random encounter that just wipes my party or a NPC that won't let me pass.

I feel like I gave it an honest effort. I WANT to like this game but it's so a slog at the beginning that I can't.

The card search needs to be able to search by name, creature type, etc. I should be able to search for "Ally" for an Ally deck, or elemental, or a specific spell. The dueling part of it seems fine, but the deck making is SO painful due to having to go through all the pages looking for the one card I know the name of.
