A good game overall, reminds me a lot of the old hunter games I used to play as a kid (though it doesn't have horse riding as far as I can tell.)

Too much DLC. I'd recommend getting a map bundle during a sale but most other DLC items aren't worth their asking price, or any price really. Also duck/geese hunting is DLC locked, which is dumb.

The animal rarity/score system feels a bit too close to a TCG or other RNG loot based game for my liking, though you're only spending time instead of money for each "pull."
If your save game happens to have no super rare or high score animals, then you basically have to kill them all and hope they respawn as something better later on or hop into multiplayer and raid someone else's save.

It would be much better if your singleplayer save refreshed when you loaded it, or if there was a menu option to do so. (Yes I am aware you can muck with the files to reset your save, but that's dumb and probably against TOS or something idk.)

It's not the biggest deal, if you keep massacring the locals you will eventually have good spawns, but it's many times slower than just hopping from server to server, taking high score trophies from lower level players and constantly changing servers, which is a lot less interesting and immersive.
I'd like to hunt deer, not hunt servers, you know?

Anyway, if you wanna shoot some animals and stuff then go ahead and try it. Make sure your kills are always unethical, as an ethical kill means your gun is for babies.

Yeah, whatever it's pretty good, look can I do this review later? I'm trying to figure out how many constructors I need making screws for this alternate steel recipe. What do you mean "That's going in." Hey wait!

Story is pretty good, Online is either a grindy nightmare or crazy expensive; $60 got me the game, but in online I can spend that much and buy a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ helicopter. Yuck.

I ended up installing one of them cheat menus in the end and trying out a bunch of the stuff I could never hope to get before my account inevitably got banned, and it wasn't very fulfilling. I imagine spending money on online to be pretty much the same.

I got interested in picking this up again recently due to the addition of open wheel F1 races, but unfortunately those races still have the arcade-like catch-up mechanics meaning that being in first actually makes you less likely to win, so that was a bust and very much against the spirit of formula racing.

I do have another copy of the game and account I could use to play more online, but there's so little of interest to do if you don't have that one friend who drops $300 and can get you into all the cool heists that you see youtubers play that I don't think I'll bother.

I played this game when I was still using my dad's steam account, and it's still just as great as I remember.
Art that really holds up, still incredibly pretty.
Music so good that I've been listening to some tracks for years.

Dunno if I'd take my review as a real review, as this game was a decently big chunk of my life ~10 years ago. I'm very biased. Cool to see that I can still find my cringy old comments on the forum, as well as download my old, still working, mod.

"Liarra, why are you posting a negative review for a game that is in your favorites list?"

I really enjoyed this game. I've completed all the maps at least once, most of them twice and am actually doing some of the less boring achivements for fun; something I do not normally do, and I'm still playing it now with mods.

It's still got that fun mud driving stuff that the previous one had, if kinda a lot easier (completed every map on hardcore and only ever restarted once, whereas even with the ability to reset my trucks I struggled to finish the first map in the old game) but it was hard enough to be fun.

I don't really feel like going through every other thing I really liked, just be assured I do really like this game.

The reasons I cannot recommend this game, comes down to the controls and the controls alone. I don't mean the camera being a bit hard to use or anything, I mean the actual keys you can and cannot change and the way they are used.

(This issue appears to have been fixed, the other two are still around.)
1. There is no hotkey for the cockpit camera. Except there is, but only someone using a wheel or gamepad can set it. Why the ♥♥♥♥ can someone with 24 inputs have a hotkey for the cockpit, while someone with several hundred have to click on it every time, as well as have to worry about acidentally clicking on the cockpit cam constantly when using winches. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid.

2. You cannot rebind the camera key. By this I mean, you cannot change the the key to drag the camera around with a mouse to the right mouse button or some other key.
Why the ♥♥♥♥ not.
The previous game didn't have this option either, but you could edit the config file to manually change it to the other mouse button, which you cannot do in this game.

This alone is can be infuriating. If you try to click on a winch point, a trailer attachment or even a menu button with the way they sway around with the camera, about 99% of the time you'll miss the first time and end up moving the camera instead.
This is only made even worse when you are getting dragged down a river, but your paniced attempts to click on a winch point just wiggle the camera around.

3. Cruise control is bound to the mouse and has no hotkey. To use cruise contorl, you MUST hold the mouse perfectly still with the gearstick selected. What the ♥♥♥♥ is the point of a cruise control which literally takes more effort to use than just accelerating normally. Not only that, but because it's bound to the mouse you cannot move the camera around while using it. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ worthless.

These three things are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SIMPLE FIXES!
They aren't huge game beraking bugs, they don't require complete feature overhauls, so there is no excuse for having them as they aren now. Until at LEAST the basic keybinds that every VIDEOGAME should have are added, I cannot recommend this for anything less than a 90% discount, despite it being a game I've enjoyed greatly otherwise.

Fix this ♥♥♥♥ and I'd gladly recommend this! Heck, if it wern't for these issues being such a pain in the rear, the most negative thing I could probably even say would be "could be more maps" or "could be harder."

I'm torn between calling it "♥♥♥♥♥♥ mixtape: the game" or "bald ken-doll hits rock: the movie: the game."

No but seriously, there's a reason why all the montages of real people doing stunts have metal, rock or dubstep on them, and not this weak chill ♥♥♥♥ overlayed with incredibly bad raps. Don't listen to the music this game comes with if you're sleepy, as it seems most of it could be used as a sleeping aid.

"She'll give me a sloppy till I'm cummin' like it's a bukake." -some probably mainstream ♥♥♥♥.

A fun rhythm game about cooking where losing causes a characters clothes to fly off.

I've really enjoyed it, having played well past the point where I've stopped getting many new rewards (in the form of outfits and acessories for your characters), which is not something that I do in every game.

The fanservice-y way in which clothes are destroyed isn't really a positive or a negative for me, but I do like putting everyone in cute outfits, inventing my own backstories for them as I go, and seeing them appear on the character even when I'm playing against them as a different character.

There are plenty of songs, and they are all rather good, high quality tracks. I feel that I will likely listen to a few of them even when not playing the game.

The difficulty modes are nice (although the jump from 'medium' to 'hard' took a bit of getting used to) I'm happy that I have been consistantly challenged during my playtime.

Everything in this game is over the top, from the daft storylines to the way your food is judged, it's full of self-aware and overly not self-aware jokes; I don't know how those voice actors managed to keep a straight face.

If you're into games like this, and are willing to buy a game with 24(?) tracks, then I'd highly recommend it.

I quite enjoyed the game at first, but cannot recommend it due to the lack of content and how easy it is.

Once you have built one mega island with every building on it, the only thing that changes about new islands is handicaps and mission events; the game was just too simple for me to enjoy like I enjoy most economy management games.

It's a shame, because the game does do some interesting things with the political side of running a city which other games shy away from, and the artwork for the characters is amazing.

It also has some features which may be leftovers from previous games or something, in that you can select people in your game individually and see info on them as well as various options (mostly involving kidnapping or killing them) similar to dwarf fortress.
I never one needed to actually use this system as, other than mission NPC's, all my people loved me too much.

I completed most of the story missions and tried out some free form games, all my cities quickly reached 80% happyness in all catagories, and my money was always in the hundred thousands. It wasn't particularly challenging once I could afford to quickbuild (it's a button the instantly builds a structure for cash without waiting for a building crew, which shouldn't be in the game IMO) any buildings I wanted and I never once lost an island.

All in all, it's a neat little game that lacks any real challenge and isn't quite deep enough on the economy side to keep me interested past the first few islands.

Well, this is the first game I have ever had to use the steam refunds system on.
Perhaps in future I will re-buy the game if it has online co-op, or if I can get enough living space to move my SO in with me so we can enjoy this really fun looking game.

Other than the no co-op in a co-op game, it has TERRIBLE keyboard controls and NO mouse support (even though the turret design and way you pilot the ship would suit a mouse SO WELL).
The actual controls themselves make zero sense for a keyboard either, it basically treats WASD as the same as an analog stick, meaning pressing up makes the engine go up and stop at up, but pressing left means it stops half way around.
I can tell the dev has zero experience with PC games and, am not sure why they didn't just use one of unity's in-built control schemes if they don't know what they are doing.

It looks like an amazing experience, but not one worth bearing the iffy ai partner (yes it's awesome he's a cat, no it's not as awesome as my SO, who might also be a cat).

Until mouse and keyboard support is added, or more importantly proper co-op, I cannot recommend this game, unfortunatly.
