The gameplay itself is solid all around. Funny haha proximity voice comms and hot/death mic and the interactions they create take me back to a time when community servers was all there was, no MM, where you could have a blast talking ♥♥♥♥ or just enjoy the dumb stuff that happens in this game. Made me nostalgiac for things like early days TF2 and CS:S

Although flawed it does enough right for the first entry in the series, has good pacing for the first half and has a lot of memorable beats of accomplishments in bosses such as the gargoyles, ornstein & smough, artorius and manus. It definitely suffers from a rushed 2nd half (looking especially at the bed of chaos and lost izalith) but the direction they chose for the final area + boss as well as the DLC makes far more than half of this game absolutely worth it. Absolutely worth experiencing and playing, ten times better than it's direct successor.

I appreciate they tried to do something different rather than just more of the same in DS1
I did all area, bosses, secret and optional including DLC

Cons:
- Hitboxes
- Enemy spam
- Enemy ganks
- Frigid outskirts
- Regular rooms full of enemies being far more challenging that 99% of the bosses
- Lock on that works more like a suggestion than locking on. This is intended
- AGL
- Somehow an uglier game than DS1 which predates it by 3 years
- Frigid outskirts
- Bosses being reused as regular enemies a lot, reusing a boss from DS1 but making it ♥♥♥♥, using the same boss later but more of them in one fight
- Supposedly the 'fixed' version that jumbles up enemy locations for some reason
- The funny reindeer in frigid outskirts
- Really underwhelming final boss and secret boss while not being nearly as cool as Gywn
- Most awkward key remapping and mouse and keyboard controls. DS1 remastered worked just fine, this is the definitive edition and it has no excuse
- Boring
- Frigid outskirts again

Pros:
- You can climb up and down ladders fast
- Sir Alonne
- Powerstancing (?) XD

Goofy family friendly, down to earth low effort fun. It looks like something you'd get bored with after a few hours, and without workshop support that might of been the case but this is a gem - very reasonable at full price and a F U C K I N G steal on sale.

Really solid beat em up, hack n slash pew pew bullet hell omega fudgecake boss rush.

Two of the bosses made me want to smash the computer because I thought they were just poorly designed and not engaging - look at you lil monk ♥♥♥♥ and the star. There are occasional difficulty spikes that feel out of place but other than that the game play is *chefs kiss* muah!

I've spent 2500 hours on this ♥♥♥♥ and it's the biggest waste of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time

10/10 would quack again

It's so simple but it's damn fun. Easy to play, hard to master.
