This is probably the least Assassins Creed game ever made to be Assassins Creed. The overall story is kinda just shoehorned in - it JUST manages to fit into the game without looking too stupid - and the gameplay encourages less stealth and actually assassinating people than ever before.

The good news is theres plenty more combat moves, abilities, weapons, upgrades and so on than other games, so it hasn't 'lost' anything, just shifted focus.

I recommend highly for what it is and definitely worth the £12 sale price I paid for it

Attempted to fight a starving bandit for spare change. Ended up with my arm cut off, bleeding out. Was patched up by a passing trader, who then turned out to be a slave trader. Was carried to the mines. Attempted to break out and was caught, beaten up, and dragged back a couple of times. Luckily this improved my sneak and athletics enough that I eventually made a break for it. Spent many days shoplifting and selling to the local thieves guild until I could afford a prosthetic arm to replace the one I'd lost. Eventually had enough money for a small house. Paid a signup fee to have a couple of other people come live and work with me at the local iron mine. Build a research bench. Paid my fees to become a full time thieves guild member. Researched enough things, gathered enough people to strike out and try to build a little outpost of our own. Got beaten down by local wildlife and eaten.10/10 would get eaten again.

The RNG is an absolute joke. If you thought Xcom wasn't painful enough, this game is for you. The game can just decide to give your turn-based enemy 3 attacks in a row, decide you have 'failed to recover' three times in a row (Basically you are stuck on 0 stamina and therefore cant do any other action than try to recover), or just decide it's your time to get critically hit when about to win.
Of course, the Dev outright states it only LOOKS unfair, but the same can happen to the player's enemy, which makes it balanced. But with 9 hours on record, I've never seen a 'three successive failure' happen to an enemy during the game. Plus, you only have one life per run, and you fight lots of enemies, so luck is always statistically against you.

This singular massive complaint brings the game from 'Very good for the price' to 'Okay I guess'.

Classic Runescape. Waste your life watching the mining animation, try to find an actual player amongst the bots. True 2012 feels.

I am Sir Boner, Pope of the Reformed Pagan Viking religion, King of Sweden and Spain, on a mission to marry and kill as many of my sisters as possible to make sure my inbred son inherits the throne.

10/10 would inbreed again.

Probably the ultimate sandbox RPG/Action game. Combat and all features are intuitive, they are basic but work very well because of it, it takes an amount of skills but is not brutally hard. What makes this game so successful is that everything just works properly without any fuss.

One of those ' Don't directly control anything, give orders and let the A.I try and carry it out' kind of games. You can generate and use 'influence' to cast spells, which is basically giving a limited amount of direct control in exchange for another generated resource. Adds a natural random factor, and makes you obsess about efficiency and getting more effective production chains. Trying to grow a population, while also trying to stop them from starving, freezing and such.

The combat is tower-defence-like. Yes you can give your guys equipment to make them fight better, yes you can build machines that generate units that fight for you, but to really do well you have to build a base that has automated defences, and that means making a maze of walls and towers to funnel the monsters down. This is treated as a feature rather than an exploit, and it's what the dev expects players to do.

All in all, this is really addictive gameplay, up to a point you suddenly get fed up. Then you come back to it a couple months later, and lose another 20 hours or so. Good stuff.
