Couldn't afford food or heating so my family died, then I was arrested for being poor.

It's realllly good.
I want to play this co-op so badly. The game encourages interaction all the time; you can argue amongst yourselves about the right way to go and get some kickass elemental mayhem going. When you win a tricky encounter you feel like a god.
It's polished to a mirror shine, well optimised as far as I can see, and very pretty.

But I have to play it with the sound off.

All of the enemies, player characters, townsfolk- even some inanimate objects- giddily spout PG, OTT high fantasy nonsense. Often rhyming, generally with a carefully measured regional accent but always giving it 120%. I don't care about your cheese, market seller. Why are you shouting about it every 8 seconds? I took the animal whisperer perk and now even the bloody chickens are shouting their random cares at me. Plus there's no good insults. Milk drinker? No. The worst you get in DDOS is probably something hecking lame like 'turnip head'.
It gets right on my wick.

I didn't enjoy this game. The world felt underpopulated, the script was poor, the story wasn't engaging, and the 'action sequences' felt totally inconsequential; basically a half dozen bar-fights. Also it had bugs, glitches and worst of all, no option to turn off the 'idiot text' in the top corner (telling you whenever you make a 'significant' choice), which did nothing but reduce the immersion, and falsly imply that the dialogue choices have any effect on the course of the game.

"Snow white appreciated that"
I know, game. I was watching.

Excellent game. Somehow fun and harrowing at the same time.

Gods Will Be Watching aims (I think) to put you in the position where you can make monstrous decisions, but not 'in a split second of panic' like Walking Dead did; it gives you all the time in the world to choose to do something necessary, but positively atrocious. This way you get to dwell on the ramifications. Also in contrast, this time to Papers Please, only the Gods are watching. How you complete the objective is irrelevant to the game, and there's no 'second booth' assessing your mistakes or concessions. It's quicker to inject a lethal dose of a virus into a human patient to find if the antidote works, and sacrifice your men in the desert to cover more ground, but if you're as immersed as I was this won't be an easy decision.

Other reviewers will criticise the mechanics. Other reviewers are missing the point. Most moral choices are down to chance at the end of the day.

Long and the short of it is; I went in as a total pacifist and within ten minutes I was rationalising the knee-capping of tied up hostages.

I've clocked well over 600 hours playing Baldur's Gate I and II since I was 12, when a copy of BGI came bundled with my first CD-ready computer. I love Baldur's gate.
The enhanced edition is better graphically and mechanically, and it would be a lot easier for a newcomer to get into it and it's certainly worth giving it a try if you're a veteran of the series. Many of the 'fixes' are welcome, and the varied classes and spells make it much more playable.
HOWEVER there are some horrible, horrible bugs. For example there is a limit on game speed (which makes combat feel fustratingly slow if you're used to setting it to 60 updates per second in the original) and the incomprehensible path search nodes (which mean your character cannot negotiate narrow corridors, and often defaults to taking 'the long way round').
The latter has caused me to prerpetrate a 'ragequit' when it repeatedly interfered with combat.

My favourite game to date. Obscenely good fun.

You can customise and role play like in an RPG, you can micromanage like in an RTS or simulation, you can shoot aliens like in an FPS and if you're a masochist you can play it rogue-like.

I'd EVEN reccommend the DLC; customisation packs, mission packs and 'The Enemy WIthin'. All improve on the original game experience and add new mechanics which still keep the game balenced.

Just buy it already and feel free to IM me if you pull off a jammy shot and just NEED TO TELL SOMEONE.

Probably an awesome game. If only Windows Live would let me play it. I've been through about 9 idfferent menus, none of which are skippable, signed 3 privacy policies entered my email 4 times, verified my email, took their dog for a walk, promised not to swear at other players, sold my soul and downloaded their god awful software.

Maybe they'll release some actual gameplay as DLC?

Amazing game. Has to be played to be believed. And then played again. And then not played several times. And then played.
