The game can be fun, whether that would be through Vanilla or modded gameplay -- One has to understand that there are still bugs and crashes present in the game, and the overall game and it's limitations stem from the game originally being on a console first - before being ported over to PC with a few alterations, making it easier for PC users to play this game.

When it comes down to it, you should be able to play with something you like, regardless of what others may say -- trust me when I say you may want to get familiar (enough) with modding, how to mod -- and find any up-to-date modifications that fix and improve the baseline vanilla play. Reduces the likelihood of crashes, softlocks, visual and functional bugs, and so forth; that would otherwise can:

Break you out of immersion at best.

Force you to start a new game entirely at worst.

Over all, I give the game a... 6.7 / 10.

This game, as far as I have played it, has been a direct upgrade over the original Borderlands. adding newer mechanics and features that the original did not possess, adding a wider variety of weaponry, gear, and two additional characters to play from. A higher level cap (as of recently, the maximum of 72 was booted up to 92, with any DLC's that raised the cap to 72 + "Fight for Sanctuary"), and a plethora of familiar and new characters to meet.

That being said, however, it does have it's pitfalls. I can weigh the Pros and Cons regarding the game-- though bare in mind, these are my opinions:

The Pro's:
  • You get a bigger game, with more, new places to explore. With new faces to meet, old ones to greet, new gear to rip and tear enemies 'sphincters' into shreds.
  • The game is still popular amongst the community, finding people to play with 'shouldn't' be much an issue. (Save if whatever match-hosting site goes down).
  • Several DLC's that expand the world of Pandora into new territory, with new enemies, faces, and loot to find.
  • Two DLC's introduce new classes to the game that change up the gameplay from the standard four present in Vanilla: Krieg and Gaige

    The Con's:
      "Badass Rank system"
    • The Badass Rank, once sufficiently high enough, can make the game incredibly easy, even on harder difficulties, and there is no option to have more than one "profile" in the event players want to start over on a new Badass Profile.
    • In addition to Badass ranks - There is no auto-allocation button, given that players who do go extensive periods of time without allocating "Badass Tokens" will spend a good while or a long time spending them.
    • Lastly regarding Badass Ranks - If your "Fire Rate" is too high, you can EASILY burn through ammo quickly. There is no cap regarding that stat.

      "Upgrade System"
    • The means to purchase upgrades for inventory and ammo capacity is limited, and there are no upgrades for anything else, making the in-game currency to purchase them only usable for unique boss fights once you have all the upgrades.

Personally needs more uses, say for perks that has a chance to not use ammo on firing a weapon, or faint ammo regen, or the like.

      "Downloadable Content"
    • (Warning: emotionally, impulsive response inbound) GOOD GRAVY there is a lot of DLC for this game, and even if some of them are cheap to purchase, some of them could've been added to vanilla game. Personally? WAY too many DLCs, mostly comprised of cosmetics.

      "Modding Capabilities"
    • While the game can be modded to an extent (E.G. different "balancing" patches that alter the game and it's content), the ability for consumers to create content for this game, through modifications, is severely limited.

I do recommend the game for solo and co-op play, especially the co-op if you have a friend that wants to help conquer a planet that has long-since had it's resources almost completely depleted and is over-ridden by incredibly aggressive wildlife, and bandits & psychopaths that will make life difficult on Pandora.

I recommend both the game and this DLC.

Warning, there will be spoilers below.

Krieg is definitely an addition to Borderlands that I've since long waited to play as: One of the psycho bandits. Only Krieg is like the ultimate and finest example of a good psycho.

Built for an all out offense and the skills to suit him, Krieg simply does not know the meaning when to stop, and can become the strongest and most powerful Psychopath with the right build. From making your foes erupt into a Nova (depend on the element you use), trying your hand at being a Badass Psycho for once, or making the enemies suffer a barrage of homing Hellfire balls as long as they keep hitting you with gun fire/melee, Krieg is true to his name which defines him: War.

He might as well be the next warrior, since he seems to be souped up enough on Eridium to match a siren (only in terms of grotesque melee violence instead of super powers).

Buy this thing already and get to know the loveable psychopath Krieg yourself!

Now if you'll excuse me, I see a chest over yonder, and over +1,000 baddies in my way.

Another continuation of the Fallout series from FO:3 takes place in a more western themed age where its the Courier job to find a missing chip, that could decide the fate of the entire mojave.

Its graphics are, personally, beautiful. Though the animations are twitchy and the series is in a desperate need of a fix for that twitchy animations and so much more, It will not disappoint you with its ability to allow modification of specific, vanilla weaponry.

And the community base with its Mods that allow you to alter a variety of aspects to FO:NV will not disappoint you either.

Edit #1 - 1/3/2017 @ 6:09 AM

With the updates made to Windows 10 since 2015, and a considerable amount of posts made across the internet on bizarre issues with Fallout New Vegas crashing when loading ANY exterior cells (plus it's unexplainable instability), FO:NV Is unplayable from the PC, from my experience and observation. You would be better off playing this game from a console that afford it - or find a dedicated team to find out what exactly the problem is.
