This game is simply amazing in terms of its depth and the dedication of its developers.
Once you begin your learning curve and appreciate the metagame you will understand why no one is to be trusted.

s'pretty good. got a couple of lil issues like some of the hitboxes don't make sense, normally when a big monster does a side-tackle.

but overall a perfect balance of grind and growth

16 hours in, basic impressions

TL;DR
-what I expected, a buggy early access with modest improvements in specific UI and graphics, so I'm happy.
It's not 'unplayable', but there are certain times where you'll need to load a save because of a quest bug or something, easy stuff to fix.

Basically:
-enjoying it, because it's the same game I already liked. same gamefeel

What's bugging me:

-the music

the soundtrack music has a 'too many cooks in the kitchen' problem going on.
for comparison, Stronghold Crusader has a coherent soundtrack. It blends seamlessly into every scenario of the game and is coherent, with sounds and instruments appropriate to the scenery.

Bannerlord has a serious tone problem.
Sometimes it sounds like Danny Elfman's 'Making Christmas' (from TNMBC) at the start of a bttle,
Sometimes at the end of a battle it sounds like you're at the character select menu of Super Smash Brothers,
Some of the songs in the taverns sound like they're lifted from Lord of the Dance and put through the same instrument selection as Skyrim....

No track on its own is bad per se, but with the frequency of how they're thrown in to the regions or situations is a jarring. It leaves Bannerlord without a coherent 'sound', except its callback ambient music.
I know music isn't something that's likely to be changed in this game moving forward, which means we're going to be stuck with this cacophony of songs that don't feel like they belong together.

What can I say. Almost-accurate, and my cat really appreciates the petting time.

The best survival simulator on the platform as of writing this review, hands down.

The presentation and artstyle is great, the experience is wonderful, and the developers are good and offer free updates without ever asking for anything extra; which is great because the difficulty and learning curve of TLD is exactly the kind of thing a larger developer would shake you down for advantages to sell you.

You have to work to survive and you will be punished dearly for being an idiot. I love it.

There are a couple of immersive 'survivalist' things that bug me (like I can't scrap the millions of carpets lying around for fabric unless they're draped off something, I can't insulate my clothes with stuffing, reading a whole book on survivalism doesn't make you much better at making fires, I only make roasts and no soups even though it's super inefficient, etc); but all in all there is no experience like it. It's an indulgence and puts 'fantasy' survival games of the genre (Like The Forest and its clones) in their place on a lower peg.

A simply gorgeous presentation that doesn't feel like pseudo-retro tryhard indie development.
I love everything about Devil Daggers; its complex simplicity; its coherent melding of audio-visuals to evoke atmosphere and anticipation; its wonderful knife-feel; the successful literalist design of a first-person bullet hell; the quake-esque sound design;
....Ahh, and the magnum opus of bonuses: if you're having an "off day" in another FPS game, especially a competative multiplayer, a few rounds of Devil Daggers will set you straight.

I first played RCT as a child because they put full games on CD rom in cereal boxes.
We had it really good back then. Seeing customers refusing to pay 2$ for drinks is also kind of wild.
This game is a great example of the nature of games developed by single people; they have an integrity and cohesion of play and aesthetic melded into a wonderful mix.

I have no interest in 3d versions of RCT because the inertia and experience of the original games is simply much more appealing to me, whether it be because of nostalgia or because I dislike the awkward early 2000's sort of 3D these games tend to have later on.

Anyway this is one of the best video game experiences of all time and one of the least expensive. It is positive, constructive, and you have to have a lot of creativity and problem-solving. I never regret playing and it is a blast.
