Do you like robots? Do you like quests? Well this game has one of those things! Do you like anime catgirls!? Well this game doesn't have any! What does this game have you ask? Roboquest is like if you took Nekopara, but removed everything from that game and inserted a different game about explosions.

Is this better than world or rise? No. But it's honestly in the same ballpark. It's really good and brings some interesting new idea's to the table. The weapons, while overall more simplistic than MH, still feel really good. Combat has more visual and auditory impact than MH. Monster designs are really well done.

Performance however is terrible. I ran into a bug in which I couldn't do anything other than attack. I couldn't even open the menu and had to alt-f4 out of a hunt, losing all that progress. I only lost about 10 minutes worth but it was still frustrating.

I've had the sound bug out so all I could hear was music. I've had monsters just sliding around the landscape in multiplayer. At one point my frames dropped so low that I was playing in slow motion. The game is poorly optimized for PC. So at this current time I wouldn't recommend it. But because chances are good I'd forget to change the review once patches roll out, I'll leave it as a positive. Because it is a really good game at it's core. If it ran better.

There was a gunner staring at me. That gunner needed to die. The gunner wanted me to die. It opened up on me. Almost immediately it chewed through my entire health bar. When you're being hit with heavy ranged fire you get staggered and it becomes near impossible to move.

Unfortunately for this gunner I'm very stubborn. A zealot, you see, has 5 seconds of invulnerability when they would normally die. So, barely able to move through sustained fire, my zealot begins slowly, step by step, angrily stomping toward the gunner, hatchet in hand. My zealot is also a very tiny woman. So imagine a very tiny angry woman stomping toward you with a hatchet in hand, ignoring the full automatic hail of bullets from the LMG you're holding.

There was a satisfying explosion of blood from that man's face shortly thereafter.

A different enemy came over and sneezed in my direction afterwards and my character immediately exploded in a shower of gore. 10/10.

Being that the title of this game is "Hunter" I expected it to be a more traditional hunting game like Hunter: Call of the Wild. It has similarities. Both games allow you to choose the most effective weapon for the job, but this game I found only had 2 firearms. The rest were these weird hitty sticks. One of them was bigger than my character. And one played music? I've never tried to hit a deer with a flute, but I suppose I could try it next time i'm out in the woods.

The animals in this title are a bit bigger than your average hunting game. The largest target I took on in other titles was a bear. A bear is the smallest animal here! I also found it unrealistic that something the size of a trailer could land on my face and I would simply rub my face a bit and move on. I dont think I would survive that in real life.

All in all it has a few problems with realism. I'm not sure the devs understand what hunting means. There's virtually no stealth involved! All that being said I do recommend this game. You get a dog.

This game is a no holds barred speed run for fastest self ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Granted, after a few hours the spooky factor wears off, it's still fun. Around level 25 my games look like this

Walk into the area. Look around while ♥♥♥♥ talking the ghost for being a little prissy cry baby who won't show itself.
Lights begin to flicker. The ghost is no longer a cry baby. You panic. You find the nearest room and slam the door shut
You hear footsteps outside your door. You're breathing heavy, hoping the ghost didn't see you run in there. You're not sure if it can hear you if you speak and see your flashlight.
The lights come back on. You puff out your chest and proclaim the ghost is an utmost ♥♥♥♥♥ for not killing you. You have bested the ghost. Your friends probably didn't hear you hyperventilating. They still think you're a manly man. Or manly woman.
The lights go out again. The ghost sticks his fingers in your eyeballs.
You sigh. Maybe next time you won't insult the ghost.

Next time: you insult the ghost.

Being hunted isn't actually THAT scary when you're used to it, but it can still be fun. Being murdered is fairly tame with no real jump scares. The game is more suspense than anything else and even when the "scariness" and "creepiness" has worn off it's just creepy enough to make you think twice when running headfirst into that building.

But you need friends. It sucks in pub groups. I haven't tried pubs. I hear they're terrible.

Sales? Fine. Prices reducing a year or more after the game is out? Fine. The price dropping when it releases out of EA for no reason? Nah.

Also the game is lackluster.

I once passed an electric fence. Old and rusty. It looked like it had been there for decades. It had a sign on it. Warning. High Voltage. The sign was barely legible. It too was rusted and old. It had holes in it. The fence couldn't possibly be powered.

I was wrong.

Overall the game play is fine and I'm still playing it. There are however things that make it a frustrating experience. You start with one slot for crafting. This slot is used for crafting, disassembling, opening boxes. At this point with 4 hours in I've got so many items cluttering up my VERY limited inventory that I'm going to have to spend a solid hour waiting on them all.

The game does fill up with bots until a player joins and it kicks one of the bots. So at the very least you'll always have something to blow up. But it doesn't tell you who the bots are and a few times I'm pretty sure I've been the only human in a match.

The game feels like a mobile port. The UI, the targeting systems, everything feels like it's made for mobile.

Bottom line. Is it fun? Sure. Should you try it? I guess? It's free so there's no real reason not to. Would I go tell my friends to play it with me? No.
