on release it was almost unplayable and i wonder if it's at least playable right now

Im not sure why or how, but upon downloading the game on medium and high settings the overlay stated i was getting 60 fps but it felt more like 20. I was ready to wait to refund the game when my friend noted that he had put his headphone on and his problems went away and now the game was butter smooth. I tried the same but it didn't work. I really love monster hunter, just finished World for the 4th time. I really wanna get this, but of course I've also seen the outcry over the performance issues. Have they still not been fixed? If they aren't, would this game be worth 20 dollars? Is there a community patch or anything similar out there that would make this more playable?...

I just wanna get back to the game, but the performance hold me back.
