Great moment to moment gameplay. It's real fun to do the thing this game has you doing. Not particularly deep on strategy.

Deep, exhaustive, more than a little inscrutable to start.

It's one challenge to survive at a baseline level, and then another challenge to wander around doing wacky messed-up stuff when you feel powerful. You'll die to hubris and bad luck in both cases. Sometimes to hilarious effect.

If you've played dungeon crawl stone soup you'll see a lot that's familiar to you.

Very polished. Very little tedium. Core systems are not too difficult to understand, but have some depth and are all around fun.

Seems unrelentingly fair to the player: goes out of it's way avoid gotchas or sudden kills, and very rarely if ever do you run into situations where you build just stone cold doesn't work. The flip side is that you can often abuse a strong ability the entire game.

Maybe on the easy side if you're a roguelike veteran.

Hey it's good.

I butchered an eyeless crab's shell for a shield and it came painted with a depiction of a historical event in the life of one of the Sultans of Qud. So I ask you: who's going around painting these crabs?
