Wow. There are a lot of salty reviews being left and it doesn't deserve such a deep hate. Yes, it has quite a handful of issues, but underneath you can tell there is a polished AAA title for VR waiting to shine.

Let's hit the Cons first...

Performance is okay, 9900k 2080 the single player ran alright, a few minor dips here and there. Gunfights are always nearly at full 80fps for my rift s, the only time I saw it struggling was during a side-cart shooting mission through a forest in the night. Multiplayer DEFINITELY has some stuttering issues and I can't fathom playing it for more than 30 minutes or it messes with my eyes. Definitely needs to be one of the top priorities if they dont want this game to fall on its face square one.

The 2D towers of menus for loading and mission screens... Bro, what are you thinking? Did you even get VR players to test this thing? No smooth turning either? I'm getting PTSD to Payday 2....

You need to add more graphical settings, give players the ability to tune it to their PC specifically, not everyone is going to have a 2080 or 3080 to play this on. the Resolution drop is disgusting and I wish no one the need to have to play it on Low. GG no re.

The physics of thrown objects are a joke, I lightly tap a pan in a direction and it goes 10000 ft, but i hoof a grenade at full strength and it comes tumbling down 4 feet away. What gives?

Why is the sniper scope so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ weird? If it was just the border around the scope its cool, but why is my guys hand rendering too? Just looks so out of place, and the scope itself seems low quality, for me to be set on high...

So... Much... Loading. I understand WHY you did this on the single player, to remove lots of walking and unneeded time and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but any MoH vet is going to reminisce back to allied assault, rising sun, etc and wants those long, tedious levels back where its up to your wits, your shots, and a keen eye to make it through the level. This feels a lot more handheld and walk through-like....

I don't know why, but sometimes I will go to turn with the snap turning and it will revert me back two snap turns away, or just looking in a different direction than i was supposed to. It seems to happen on single player when loading a checkpoint and shooting right away, or in MP when dying and respawning and going to shoot instantly.

The facial expressions need some work, the eyes look freaky and lifeless, and kind of creeps me out.

Now, for the Pros...

Reloading feels pretty amazing, I actually feel i can bolt the kar98 too fast. One hand pumping the shotgun and flicking the repeater to load it is actually sick asf.

Gunplay feels nice and rewarding, and pulling the pin of a grenade with your teeth? That's a fat bet. Multitasking at its finest.

The voice lines in the game are pretty great. Had me crying a few times over some of the dad jokes they threw in there.

Game is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, one of the most beautiful games I've played in VR, hands down. Respawn did an excellent job in making it immersive and a lot of the times I feel like the environment really does suck you in.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm sure there are a few points on both sides I'm missing, but I myself am personally enjoying this game, and within a couple patches all these major problems can be resolved. This can definitely be the next big VR shooter, don't take what you have for granted, Respawn....

God this game is so good.
20 hours in, I can safely say this game has a lot of potential. It definitely is not a flawless game, and is very rough in it's current state.

TLDR;

Game is fun as ♥♥♥♥. Game runs alright (if you at least have MINIMUM specs) as of this day, movement and climbing system is legit as hell,
I only see this game improving from here, don't let the negative reviews from launch make you think twice.

Meet me in Asylum, beetches ;)

Longboi:

This game has a very big PUBG vibe to it, the weapons, the attachments, and gunplay. It feels very fluent and it just makes me want to hop on this instead of most of my other shooters I own.

The movement feels a bit more fast paced, almost like if doomguy had relations with master chief (i bet you can't get that imagery out of your head). I like it, it feels almost like an arena shooter.

The game has ziplines to quickly go across the map, which is nice, I wish there was a way to slow yourself down and make the noise a bit quieter, maybe that could be an added feature in the future.
I also LOVE the climbing system, when you ambush someone by finessing them climbing up a billboard, there is no other feeling. I feel slowing the movement down would make the game lose a bit of it's charm, but that's just my opinion.

The sound, I'm gonna be real, is probably the worst aspect out of the game. The sound effects are OKAY, but the audio positioning is terrible, and I've had too many sound sources from weapons at once break the sound of the game. Footsteps aren't bad to listen to, but if its verticality you're wanting, let me give you a big HA.

As for performance, the game has a ways for optimization. The minimum specs of 6gb of vram is a bit hard to swallow in my opinion, but I am no programmer or game designer, I am sure there is a reason for it. With each patch I feel the performance getting slightly better, and for now the performance is solid enough that I can take a couple frame dips here and there.

Finding games can be a bit challenging on non peak hours, but that's where you come in, reader. Come help this game grow, I'm wanting this to be a full 100 player brawl before its over with.

The developers are constantly slamming out patches, and asking for bug reports and suggestions in the discord. They even have a board for voting on what gets worked on for upcoming patches.

I played through most of the first level about 4 times before i gave up. Crash, crash, crash. Geforce experience even accidentally installed the notebook 2080 driver instead of the desktop variant this morning and i had to manually fix all that jazz. finally able to play, i set it up with global illumination on medium, and my render scaling to 80% of 1440p, and a smooth 64-70 fps the entire time. That is, until it flat out crashed to desktop with no warnings. Try, try again, only to crash, crash, crash. Please fix, I'd love to play this game once more with rtx.

EDIT: I reinstalled my GPU drivers, and no crashing so far. I found the culprit to be Geforce experience forcing a NOTEBOOK 2080 driver install on my DESKTOP 2080. What the hell Nvidia? I get better fps now, around 75-100 fps. Having a lot of fun, already past the secret level.
