Fantastic. Genuinely outstanding. This is the best Armored Core game they've made.

It takes from the DNA of all of the others, blending them in a way I feel is as close to perfect as the devs have ever come with Armored Core - a series defined by reinventing itself. I think it takes good things from the rest of the series and blends them together in a really smooth way.

The game is really hard, but there are builds that can trivialize it - the Zimmerman shotguns and the Stun Needle shoulder weapons for example -, but even when you're playing a 'weak' or 'strong' build it still feels so fluid to move around. The game is relatively unpunishing, allowing you to farm money via repeating missions, meaning that access to vital parts is seldom far away.

I think that one of the only problems the game has is that it's so good, it'll be hard to convince people to go and play the earlier ones.

A lot of people rag on this one, but I think that it's great. It adds some new quests and an entirely new type of mech and weapon type - mechs that can use melee weapons are specialized for it.

A big thing I enjoy is just the additional variety - even if they're a 'small' class of weapons, they're unlike any other weapons in the way you use them, and functionally add an entirely new possible 'style' of mech that didn't really exist before. Granted, 'close range' mechs have existed and are still in the game, but downright just cleaving a Locust in two is an entirely different and very satisfying feeling.

The sound design is really top notch for the melee weapons. All of them have perfectly crunchy sounds, and as someone who has played a decent chunk of mecha games, I seriously have never felt the impact of a giant metal claymore as much as I have in this one.

The quest chain is neat, the new mech chassis is good, the new variety always helps, and it's really fun, is the most important part.

Really good DLC, but in order to really like it you're going to probably want to pay attention to the story.

Besides the story, it adds another rather good and interesting heavy Mech, which is versatile and has a lot of room for customization, and it adds a new type of melee weapon that any mech can use, not just DLC3 mechs, and which open up possibilities for melee on a lot more mechs.

Infiltration missions are very fun, and there's a lot of ways to tackle them. Depending on your company's current capabilities, for example, you might want to try and sweep-and-clear the entire jam-packed level, or if you're limping along then a quick in-and-out Infiltration with a light Mech can buoy you for a while longer. I think that they're some of the most fun mission types.

The new Mercenary system is really cool - it's somewhat out of the way, but it's really neat when it pops up. It adds another element of variety to random missions and which can really make them feel more alive. Likewise, the Bounty Hunter lore tidbits about the mercenary companies are -actually- really freaking cool. Every single mercenary company - of which there are a lot - are actual like, organizations in the greater lore of BattleTech. You get some insights into them in the form of a character talking to you after encountering them, and it's really cool.

For example, one time I fought a company and was told after that they're basically a bunch of mooks who suck and fail all the time, but for some reason the biggest and most important organization in the galaxy keeps bailing them out even though they'd let any other mercenary company drown. It was kind of just... cool! It's something you could probably just read online, but as part of an experience it's delightful.

I really love this game, it's fantastic. It hits a very nice blend of 'shooter', 'tactical' and 'make a number go up' that I enjoy. It's so cool how you steadily build up your funds and resources by taking apart enemy mechs in combat, salvaging them and upgrading your own arsenal with what you find.

The flexibility of customization is immense, and with mods becomes genuinely ridiculous. I've spent at least a few dozen hours if not hundreds just in the mechlab, fiddling around and choosing what I want.

The story and world is honestly pretty good, too. It's grown on me a lot, even though I was apathetic to it at first. It's out of the way, so you can ignore it, but the world of BattleTech is very fleshed out - it is a long and tumultuous history of human folly and cruelty coming together to prevent progress. I love it because I feel like I can really have fun with the giant robots without feeling like I am playing a awful propaganda simulator like Call of Duty. You are just a cog in the machine, but not big enough to stop the whole thing - there is a kind of tragedy in the fact that you keep doing what you're doing as a mercenary. I do not feel like a 'good guy' or a 'bad guy', I am just some random person doing what they can to live, even if it sucks.

Incredibly highly recommend. Extremely worth the price at $30, even more at half off.

Beat it in four hours. Never has a game made me happy to see a 'to be continued' before. What a fantastic experience. This game is amazing and deserves both your time and money.

This game is such a delight, even if the parts where you're not fighting a boss are a bit clunky here and there, the characters that it does have are charming and it's campy in a delightful way.

Really solid RPG, and the story is the O.G. The only downside is that the gameplay is quite dated, but even then I still played it quite a lot. The characters were the selling point to me. +1

Fast paced, intense, but somewhat short. It's also a boss rush and nothing else, but it's good. +1
