Inscryption does for deckbuilders what Hades did for roguelikes -- it shows just how much narrative potential lies latent in the genre's gameplay and its contextual surrounds. The game blends satisfying, quickly paced card battling with spooky escape-room-esque puzzling, ultimately wrapping the player in one of the best narratives I have ever experienced in a game. While initially challenging, the game does an excellent job getting the player up to speed with the gameplay before adding new mechanics and throwing them off the deep end -- far farther than you could imagine. A richly immersive experience with the satisfying narrative intrigue and atmosphere-building of an art film, let alone an art game. Go in blind!
