With over 600 hours invested in this game and tons of content still to "achieve", I can honestly say this is my favorite of the rogue-like deck building games. As a huge fan of Slay the Spire, which introduced me to this genre, I didn't have a lot of hope that any game thereafter would give me the same sense of excitement and dedication as it did. That was until I played Monster Train. One of the things I appreciate the most about Monster Train is that there's always something new to explore: some combination of clans, cards, or some other game-breaking combos. I didn't really feel that about Slay the Spire beyond the initial leveling of the 3 main characters (and eventually 4th). Once I gave up on ever defeating the heart (is it even possible?) I never felt like there was anything else out there driving me to continue to play the game. With Monster Train I feel like there is always something to do--some combo to complete, covenant rank to unlock, or expert challenge to beat. All of this is accompanied by a logbook that clearly shows you what you have achieved and what you still need to complete. I love this concept--as a perfectionist in games I really want to see all of it lit up. I never had something like it in Slay the Spire, so the addition of it in Monster Train is really what keeps me coming back game after game. My one criticism of the game is its level of difficulty. I either know that I'm going to lose the game by floor 3 OR I think I have an awesome thing going and then get totally destroyed when I get to the last boss. This is similar to what frustrated me about Slay the Spire's final heart. With no rewards at the higher levels it's sometimes hard not to feel like you just spent an hour+ of your life on something that you had no chance of winning from the beginning, However, Monster Train's logbook has me coming back time and time again and I'm glad it does.

I feel like I could really have a good time playing this game; it has everything I love when it comes to lore and gameplay. However there are just too many crashes! At first I thought it was just me, but after reading the reviews I learned it's not. I will definitely update this review after they fix their game (which I hope is soon because I really want to play).

I thought to myself, "Wow, what a fun way to play Monopoly with my friends!" So, I unwittingly bought the game, called up some of my friends, had them bring their controllers over, and we launched the game.

Things went downhill pretty quick when I realized that we didn't need our own controllers at all, that the game was, instead, a game where you pass the controller to each person as they play. What century is this!? I mean how hard would it have been to make it so everyone can use their own input? Also, what's the point in passing a controller when all the game is is pressing the A button over and over anyways!? At one point we just let one person hold the controller and let them just press A to roll, press A to move, press A to buy property, press A to change players, etc. Essentially it became a "Press A Simulator".

I honestly didn't think it was possible for Monopoly to get more boring than the board game, but somehow Ubisoft has done just that.

I would take the bullet before I suggested this game to anyone.

This game makes me feel dumb and like a genius all at the same time. I love it.

This game will bridge gaps in your relationships through gun violence and bloodshed. Definitely worth it!
