One of the best multiplayer games ever made, left to rot by Valve for years, don't waste your time playing the reanimated corpse of this classic, it's just sad and Valve doesn't care so long as they get you to gamble on a shiny new crate.

I had originally written this game off as a shameless Bloodborne clone, I could not be more wrong.
Lies of P is the only non From Soft game to comfortably go toe to toe with their library. If you, like I did, believe this is another uninspired soulslike to be thrown on the pile, you are mistaken. It's truly one of the greatest gems of 2023, I am awaiting the dlc alongside Elden Ring's with bated breath. Whatever this studio goes on to do is a day 1 purchase for me, it's that good.

The game is truly one of a kind but marred by innumerable flaws both minor and major. The devs constantly try to sell Dead by Daylight as a meme party game but is constantly being balanced as if it were a competitive e-sport, this wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if the devs weren't so bad at it; having released a killer that is constantly slowed down in a meta where taking three seconds to reload your bottles as Clown or go fix a poorly placed trap as Trapper can cost you the game. It seems like the devs don't play their own game at a high level or just have nothing but contempt for the people who do. They constantly pump out microtransactions in the form of skins and battle passes like it were a free to play game even though it's a minimum $20 buy in if you can't wait for a sale. They knowingly release paid dlc that is either so broken it would embarrass an early access game or so underpowered as to make the best players sweat to keep up (Twins and Trickster respectively). In addition, because of the cash shop the extra skins that used to be freebies are now a ten dollar upcharge each. Furthermore, the devs tried to remove the ability to earn event skins for playing last Halloween, only relenting because the community kicked up an EA level PR nightmare. If you want to get into this game you have to accept that Behaviour has completely given up on pretending that they care about the quality of the game more than your wallet, and the worst part is they don't have to pretend because all of their competition on Steam has completely shot themselves in the foot to the point of complete irrelevancy, Behaviour has conquered the asynchronous multiplayer market with Dead by Daylight and they know it.

If you can look past the awful monetization of the game you'll find that Dead By Daylight itself can be an extremely enjoyable game if you're willing to invest the time and funds into it. It's unfortunately one of those games that you don't understand until you've poured a couple hundred hours of your life into it. Unfortunately, the perk system suffers from extreme bloat, most of the perks, for survivor and killer, are worthless or situational at best. Especially as killer, not having the best perks will break you unless you have mastered the game, and on the killer side the best perks are spread around the roster so you'll have to cough up some dough or pray to your god of choice you get lucky on the shrine of secrets. Luckily, if you're only interested in survivor most of the best perks belong to the free survivors.

Every update sadly breaks more than it fixes, as I mentioned before the Twins came out completely busted even though their problems were well documented in the PTB, and every time a new update comes out it breaks EAC forcing me to reinstall the entire game, extremely bad if you have a data cap. As the game stands, it can be extremely fun and there's nothing else like it. But Behaviour takes every chance they get to kneecap their game and shake down their playerbase for every nickel they've got. Couple that with how much you have to invest to really start playing I can't recommend it unless you're a masochist or a complete horror fiend like myself. Please do not buy this game if you're on the fence, make Behaviour do better.

Perfect game to play with your friends over Parsec. Plays like a long lost Dreamcast game, there's nothing quite like it.

How to bring back a character who hasn't been seen in 15 years:
Give them a Bloodborne motif

This killer is blatantly unfinished. Tons of clipping between Victor and Charlotte, animations abruptly end then start again or are just missing all together. Needed to be delayed but Behavior pushed it out because their greed has gone massively unchecked, the "bonus" cosmetic for the survivor you get for buying this is just a yellow palette swap. Wait until this is fixed before you reward their shabby work with your money.
