Do yourself a favor and give Black Mesa a shot. The quality of the game is top notch.
The game has been in development for 8 years so it obviously doesn't feel like a 2020 game but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. In my opinion it's still a good looking game thanks to all the VFX.

Level design of the Black Mesa complex and Xen feel authentic and lived in. You can tell the development team has put a lot of thought and love into this one. It's not just a mindless remake of the original. All the levels have been improved upon they maintain the original Half-Life feel.
Xen in this version is tenfold better than the original and it left me speechless on multiple occasions.

To be completely fair, the game is not flawless. Frequent loading screens will interrupt your gameplay and I also had a few frame drops. Especially the busy parts of the Surface Tension and some fights on Xen didn't run very well on my decent PC.

Overall, I absolutely loved it and I'd recommend playing it to anyone who likes Half-Life or just story driven FPS games.

Long live Gordon Freeman!

The combat was satisfying, the worlds were beautiful and the story was good. The main character, Cal, was likable and I wouldn't mind seeing him again. The other characters were pretty good, too!

It's definitely not a hardcore souls-like game but it can still be very challenging..
On the other hand, if you have a PTSD from Dark Souls and you're afraid the game would be too hard for you, don't worry. You can play the game on "Story mode" difficulty which makes it really easy (too easy in my opinion) and you get to experience this great game.

There were a few platforming puzzles I could have done without but I still enjoyed the whole experience.

It's no doubt became my favorite SW game. I hope to see a sequel from Respawn soon!

As much as I'd love Days of War to succeed, I absolutely cannot recommend it to anyone in its current state.

As a Day of Defeat veteran I had high hopes for DoW and I supported them since their Kickstarter campaign.
After the initial flop of the "early access" version we were promised a relaunch with a major overhaul. It looked really good and appealing to the old DoD/S players, however the optimism didn't last very long as the developers, yet again, abandoned the game just a few weeks after the 1.0 release.

The gameplay feels familiar to DoD and it has decent graphics but the lack of players make it impossible to enjoy it. Most of the time I was forced to play on east coast or even on European servers due to lack of lack of player base on the west coast.
At this point it only makes sense the players gave up on the game since there no communication from the developers whatsoever.

Honestly I'm very disappointed because I believed the game was starting to shape up nicely. I never expected it to go mainstream but there was already some community starting to build up. It was supposed to be the game that brought Day of Defeat back to the new generation of players.

If you're nostalgic for DoD:S like me, I'd recommend booting up the original game as it's much more polished and it still has a decent player base.

Worst buy I ever made on Steam. I've got too nostalgic so I fell for this crap. It's the worst THPS game for sure. AVOID
