Excellent update to a classic, my favorite part of Yars: Recharged is the beautifully intuitive controls. Graphics are minimalist and music and sound effects aren't obtrusive. Game play keeps you coming back for more, but getting high scores is difficult. I wish these recharged titles were included as DLCs in Atari's 50th Anniversary Collection, but they're reasonably priced. Right now it's US$5.00 -- get it!

Horrible interface, not at all intuitive, but free and accessible with great documentation -- once you've set it up, it works well. Don't be discouraged.

This game is REALLY good. I love Joust and this builds on a classic, with new game modes and enhancements, things that should have been in the original game. I'm glad Atari is working with Alan-1 to release this in arcades. I can't wait for more!

A relaxing, beautiful game of exploration, Jusant has no antagonist. The story is told through discovering artefacts, some revealing soundscapes from the past, others communication between people. The main mechanic of climbing is the best I've ever encountered, with the environment being both engaging and challenging, but not brutal. There wasn't a point in the game where I felt I didn't know how to proceed or where the skill level was impossible.
I do wish there was more interaction with the environment. Doors are locked and can't be opened. Objects other than the few that progress the story can't be examined or used. I keep hoping there are more tools to be found to do new and interesting things, but I see now, that it's all climbing and activating paintings and altars. I also wish save states didn't depend on checkpoints. I've often stopped play and come back to find I've regressed several stages. If you're looking for a fighting game, this isn't it. But if you want to relax and explore a beautifully crafted environment through a unique climbing mechanic, then I recommend you play.

Reminiscent of Papers Please and Death & Taxes, CoropNation has you working as a lab tech sorting samples at Ringo Corporation, an entity that controls every aspect of your life. You make money to spend on rent, food and utilities, paying back your employer. You fill your life placated by games, saving enough money once in awhile to buy a trinket. And, you read propaganda supportive of your country and the corporation. You chat with others online and are told to report them to the corporation for anything suspicious. This may be reminiscent of your real life. Eventually you're contacted by a dissident organization and the real game begins.
The gameplay is engaging once the first few weeks are over. And, the low color pixel art graphics and minimalist sound suit the dystopian storyline. I'm enjoying it so far and recommend you buy it on sale.

This is one of the best puzzle games I've played, from the story to the game mechanics and graphics. The only other puzzle game as original and well executed I remember is The Witness, which may not be as accessible. The game's interface is simple and beautiful and the game can be difficult, making you learn scripts with different noun/verb patterns, sentence structure, and idioms. The graphics are simple, cell shaded, reminiscent of compic book art and the sound design is soothing. I highly recommend this game, especially on sale. I hope Rundisc continues the series.

Lost in Play is a traditional point & click adventure with a charming art style and endearing sound design. The surreal story involves a brother and sister who are lost in a fantasy playscape of their own imagining. The sister puts on a mask and transforms into a literal bear who chases the brother though stone pillars which are actually a garden gate, into new lands which are actually a park. All of this is told with beautiful art.
Some in the Steam comments dislike the fact that this game has such a high review score and have intentionally given it a negative review just to mention that fact. Ignore them. You will enjoy this game, even though it is simplistic. The puzzles are varied and some are fiendishly difficult. Highly recommended, especially on sale.

A cozy game which is a bit too easy, Tavern Master's best feature is the designer which allows you a great deal of freedom to design whatever you wish. After understanding the mechanics, there's a point where you just make way too much money and it becomes a grind. But, I keep going back to it if only to unlock the next bit of research. You can tell that the developer ran out of ideas because the last few unlockables are just floor textures. If you can get it on sale, it's worth it.

Roadwarden is a text-based, fantasy RPG that feels like it's being narrated by an old-school dungeon master. The writing is honestly as detailed and captivating as Disco Elysium. Similar dice throws occur but, unfortunately, you're unable to see the outcomes or what bonuses you have. You'll appreciate the depth of character interactions and choices that meaningfully impact the story. The pixel art is revealed in such a manner that doesn't just complement the game. Certain interactions make you look for items in the scenery to type in, describe, and explore -- truly a unique blend of genres.
nb. Looking at the Steam achievements, you'll notice a sharp cut off from the first to the second, the latter having only 25% of those who have played achieving it. If you're not ready to read a great deal of text and actually pay attention to details, this game isn't for you.

I've just finished the first chapter and I love the art style and simple game play. The scenarios become much more difficult as you proceed with the story; you really have to pay attention to details. It's like an easier version of The Return of the Obra Dinn with simpler game mechanics, highly recommended.
