A mesmerizing and indescribable horror/comedy/something game that has way more psychic power than it should. It's a one-of-a-kind experience that costs nothing and lasts less than an hour - you should just go in blind and enjoy the ride.

Bass boosted Celine Dion will never be the same again.

I think the sign of a good roguelike is having a big stupid grin on your face when you die. I have a big stupid grin on my face when I die in this game (most of the time).

I love to see this game's combat reach levels of chaos that make me genuinely concerned that the game is going to crash due to the sheer amount of nonsense on screen. (it's actually never crashed for me, somehow)

If you want a game that consistently delivers wacky and chaotic combat then this is probably for you.

At first, Hyper Demon seems almost like some kind of meta joke game. It's hilariously chaotic on your first few runs.

I do my best to shoot the demons. The demons scream and twitch violently as they morph into technicolor blobs of nothing. The floor is water sometimes. I have a headache.

I laughed when my timer went to a negative value. This is a funny game in the same way that Dark Souls is a funny game. Surely the game is making fun of me? Surely nobody would design a game this chaotic and expect me to take it seriously?

Then, after a while, something clicks.

You put together your first "good" run. You manage to get a powerup. You are immersed into a state of pure flow and it feels incredible. A dream turns into a lucid dream. You find yourself reacting to things you can't even really describe. You've acquired a taste of The Forbidden Knowledge and now you can perceive a strange, new dimension that was previously hidden to you. It's intoxicating. Every death leaves you wanting more.

I don't know how the game managed to pull off this magic trick - how did it manage to leap from being hilariously unplayable to borderline peaceful at times?

I'm in awe of this game. It lights my brain on fire in the best way. You should play it.

A cool first person vibe em up that won't take up too much of your time. Oozing with personality and charm. It's just fun to explore this little world and meet all the people who live here.

Only complaint is I wish I could listen to big mud while exploring.

One of my favorite walk em ups from the last couple years. Really rich atmosphere/mood. The narrative is pretty perplexing on the first time around, but some parts of it started to resonate more with me on multiple playthroughs. It can easily be finished in one sitting (this is a good thing!)

The obvious comparison in terms of mood is Lynch, I mean one scene is literally straight from Eraserhead. But, there's alot more going on underneath the surface. It has the kind of "intuitive narrative" that games like Thirty Flights of Loving have, where you're just kinda feeling things out rather than having stuff spelled out for you. If you're not into that sort of thing, then maybe it's not for you.

Early Access Review
I bought this because I wanted a whiteboard type app to just paste a bunch of ideas/tasklists/images into one place and it does just exactly that!

It's easy/fun to use and gives you a ton of control over alot of different features. Being able to draw directly in the program and create top down layouts of maps is especially useful.

Only issues so far is it seems pasting audio files is a little fussy. Some work and some don't, not sure why.

Also the pixel theme is a little hard on the eyes for me, I wish there was another default non-pixel theme we could switch to.

Overall, it's a pretty great tool that I could see myself using quite alot!

I was intimidated by the length/complexity of this game/genre of games for many years before I finally gave it a solid try - but it was definitely worth it.

It's easily one of the most memorable singleplayer rpgs I've ever played. Freedom is really what this game is excellent at. You're given a silly amount of freedom in combat, character builds, how you approach the quests, etc. In my playthrough I consistently would come up with some kind of janky, improvised strategy that would not only actually work - but the game accounted for it and acknowledged it as a valid strategy.

The dialogue is also some of the most entertaining in recent memory. In every new zone I spent a good chunk of my time just walking around and talking to all the npcs, just to hear what they had to say (which is something I don't normally do in rpgs).

It's just... really good. You should give it a try if you're in the mood for a cozy singleplayer rpg.
(also, make sure to choose the "Pet Pal" perk)

13 years later, and still the best kick button that I've used in a game.

Within the first hour or so I became dehydrated, drank river water, got indigestion, got lost in a dark cave, started bleeding, destroyed my clothes to attempt to stop the bleeding, passed out, and woke up as a slave in some kind of underground mine.

One of the other slaves taught me how to make a shiv, and also how to stab people more effectively.

Pretty fun stuff.

If you ever modded Elder Scrolls to have more survival elements/basic needs, then you'll probably really enjoy this
