Early Access Review
I love the voxel building. There is a minor, but quite inconvenient bug when you use the scroll wheel to select different toolbars, but I hope they will fix this soon.

I also like the way weapons have different stats and bonuses when you upgrade them. I didn't quite had time to see how the loot system works, but looks promising.

This game gives me such a Soul Reaver vibe with the dual world mechanic and how you have to suck in all those souls after your defeat your enemies. Hopefully this will reignite the desire for a Kain/Soul Reaver game in the gaming community. It's been too long already.

I love exploring the dual worlds of Axiom and Umbral and I like it that the Umbral side is so wild and vicious. It actually makes it so you don't want to spend too much time in that realm because it gets overwhelming quite fast so you have to take care to not dwell too long in the Umbral realm.
The fact that you have two worlds that weave into eachother offers some great opportunities to have different routes to get to some places and this makes exploration all the better in my opinion.

At first I didn't really like the combat, but maybe that was because I just finished Lies of P when started playing LotF so I didn't pay much attention to the dodge and roll mechanic and that was a mistake, because the dodge is so good in this game. It offers great opportunities to punish enemy attacks quickly and decisively and if you also include the forgiving parry windows you can easily make some battles look downright cinematic.

But for the love of the Light, please change that parry sound. It's so weak and underwhelming. A parry sound should be something strong, sharp. To feel that you hit the perfect timing to subdue your enemy. Please make a better parry sound.

The world has some gorgeous vistas and beautiful scenes and the photo mode is amazing. I love it that you can actually save your position in the world and later open that 3D Photo and make new photos in that environment with new settings and filters. This should be a standard for any game that has a Photo mode.

The story didn't really grab me yet. Feels kinda like a standard inquisition story line so far, but I have not yet reached the end of the story so I can't give my opinion on it. We'll see how it ends.

Who would have thunk that a $3 game will keep me glued to my screen for so long.
It is perfect for quick sessions of a few minutes and then you can continue your day.

Now it's even better and can play co-op with your friends.

Is this the best souls like game ever? Maybe not, probably yes, but I can whole wholeheartedly say that this is an amazing game. It will probably be my 2022 GOTY.

Yes, it has some problems here and there, especially the online connectivity, but I have enjoyed every minute while playing it.

The open world gives me plenty of space to explore and find interesting things, the story is the most fleshed out of the latest From Software games, except Sekiro, that one has the story told in more conventional ways, but the combat makes up for that. Here are so many characters in this game and each on of them has so much dialogue. It is a lot easier to make out the story in Elden Ring than any Dark Souls, Bloodborn or Demon Souls. And oh my God, the worldbuilding is so vast.

The gameplay is the well known souls-like gameplay, but this time the player has so many more tools to use to overcome hardships in the world of Lands Between. From better spells with longer range to ashes of war that can be put on almost any weapon and summoning ashes to help you during boss fights or while exploring the world. I think even the co-op experience is a lot easier than in the past games. Now you have basically infinite resources to call other players to help and you can no longer be invaded if you play alone. Invasions also have no great rewards so I think most people won't even invade. Yes, some people hate that invasions are mandatory for co-op and I respect their opinion, but I don't agree with it.

The game offers a vast array of bosses and weapons, which can be further customized with different ashes of war. This makes the game feel very diverse. I've played 3 different characters from start (with two of them I've completed the game close to 100%, 3rd playthrough is still not finished) and I have to say that it felt very different every time.

Elden Ring is one of those games which I will never delete from my hard drive and will always come back to it and play some more.

This is one of those games where you will die a lot, but as soon as you die you will press the button for "one more run" and the next thing you see is that it's 4AM again and you forgot to sleep.

It has tight controls, amazing level design and lovely art. I recommend this to anyone who loves puzzles and underground tombs.

This is a game where you can relax with your buddies while you also mine gold in a great looking underground world filled with lovely bugs that try to eat your face.

The developers keep updating the game with new biomes, weapons, enemies and mission types every few months and the only payed content are skins for your dwarfs and weapons.
