Early Access Review
5 months ago the devs said in their discord that "the project is still alive". Tough to believe when there hasn't been a single update in over a year.

Don't buy this game until you see several updates. It's dead, dead, dead. A damn shame.

Wreckfest is a beautiful destruction derby racer, but doesn't reimagine the genre at all. The cost of entry for this title is just too high for how little value it provides.

Multiplayer can be fun, if you can get into a match successfully. All too often the long load times to get into a multiplayer match would result in you finally entering a room, then immediately receiving a message that "you were not ready when the match began", then booting you back to the lobby to try again. That said, there were some fantastic moments of destruction in the few multiplayer matches I played. Of note is LAN support in the multiplayer, which is hard to find these days, especially in a racer.

If you want really pretty damage and realistic physics in a arcade racer and money is no object, get this game. It's Dirt Racing meets Destruction Derby. But the price, even when on sale, just seems a little too high for how little I'll end up playing this game.

By far the best party game experience you can find for VR right now. This game is great for everyone who can put on a headset.

While the built in songs are great, this game shines when you install the mod manager, ModSaber. Search the web and you'll find the installer on GitHub. It becomes a completely different game when you're done.

**Updated 12/27/21**

Devs pulled through and made a pretty fun game! Flipping my thumbs down to a thumbs up! Way to go devs!

**Updated 12/4/19**

Just want to point out that the devs haven't released an update for this game since my review nearly a year ago. You can see there are plenty of paid reviews, but nothing new to see here. What a shame.

---------------------------------------------

I really, really want to love this game. I'm a huge fan of Cooking Fever and was siked to play something similar with a friend in VR. Unfortunately, the videos do not set realistic expectations and performance issues plague this game.

Multiplayer is the core reason I purchased this game, but with a single game mode and fairly simplistic gameplay, there's not much here to keep you coming back more than one or two rounds. We also experienced really terrible frame rate drops the longer we were in the multiplayer experience. This gradual loss in performance gets to a point where the game is sickening. Support in their Discord channel was non-existent for this issue (for a month now). Don't expect to successfully throw (or block, for that matter) objects as shown in the video. Aside from hitting your A.I. server in the face with objects (which is brilliant), you've got a 1 in 100 chance to throw something and hit your buddy.

Single player features 30 missions (IIRC) that slowly increase in difficulty. Unfortunately, with performance issues and some clunky control mechanics, this just becomes frustrating to play after a while. Getting items off of a plate or layering them differently is maddening. Liquid physics for the drinks just seem broken and pouring fries into the fryer is just...unrealistic. There are also very obvious bugs like condiments not applying correctly when the plate is placed on the left side of the table.

Making all of this worse is the slow rate of updates coming from the small development team. Announced in the general chat in the Discord, the devs mentioned they're upgrading to a newer version of Unity, working on two new single player game modes, and rebuilding their menu design. Sadly, the core game mechanics need some desperate attention before I would even consider touching anything else.

All that said, no refund for me...I'm along for the ride and will hope the devs deliver. Just don't expect much if you decide to drop $20 on this unfinished game.

I didn't play Dungeon Keeper 1 or 2, but I do love RTS games and God Game genres. I also got to play this with a friend who DID play DK2, which helped a little bit.

This game was just not for either of us. I love the humor in the videos and voice overs, but the actual gameplay is confusing and combat/unit building is just weird. Short of telling all your units to rush to one place, there isn't a whole lot of "strategy" when it comes to combat. Matches seem to take a very long time and I can't imagine friends enjoying multiplayer.

This game clearly has a market and that market is Dungeon Keeper players. If you didn't play DK, maybe consider passing on this one.
