Graphical style and animations are top notch. BE AWARE THOUGH: controls are clunky, making the game very difficult and can be really frustrating.

A seminal game in the genre, but definitely shows its age with some rough edges, especially controls as I mentioned.

Definitely recommend if you always wanted to play it, especially because it's cheap. But if you're looking for something more user friendly, go with Bomb Rush Cyberfunk.

Cool graphic style. Really chill. Fast travel if you don't feel like riding your hoverbike over the sands, but let's be real, you'll want to.

I llove this game! I'm a huge fan of Jules Verne-style adventure, underwater stuff, and sci-fi settings. Lore, character development, underwater combat, and deep-sea creepiness abound. I love that the first open-world area is near the surface, the second is deeper, and the third features a steep drop-off into the black. The score is excellent, the writing and character portraits are fun.

If you like the Disney movie Atlantis: The Lost Empire, you will like this game.

Downsides, there are some bugs and jankiness to deal with. I won't lie, if I wasn't already super into the aesthetic and the story premise, I would probably be giving this a thumbs down.

Pros: Textures, animation, effects, all of that looks amazing. Xen is beautiful. Combat is still fun and actually with the most recent tweaks the Marine AI is quite challenging at times.

Cons: Some levels seem to go on longer than necessary. Autosave seems to kick in at rather awkward times (20 HP left in the middle of combat for example).

Overall very entertaining, added depth of world building and immersion, some of which better ties the story into later chapters. Xen alone is worth the price IMO, for the massively improved visuals and some of the level design. The one caveat is that edits of pacing and replacement or removal of large chunks of content compared to the original Half-Life may frustrate purists, or give those curious about this landmark FPS the wrong impression. That said I think most modern players who are not familiar with the franchise will prefer this version.

LIkes: World feels huge and open-ended. Main story doesn't demand your constant attention. Voice acting is good. World building is excellent.

Dislikes: combat isn't amazing, but it's good. Some models/textures a little janky.

What I keep coming back to this game for is the combat. It just feels awesome. Even before they added the finishers, I always end up feeling like a badass space wizard/superhero. Not to mention the sweet space motorcycles. The dislikes I have mostly relate to the grindy parts of leveling up. It can get to feeling like a to-do list. But there's plenty of fun to be had without grinding. Paid content is cosmetic.

NOTE: I play pretty much only PvE.
