This game goes hard to Monstercat.

What a lovely, odd game. It feels like a janky asset flip with a super generic fantasy theme slapped together... but in a competent way and with some actual effort put in. It's simple, solid FUN.
If you can look past the jank, which is mostly found in the NPC dialog and quest descriptions, you'll get decent combat, lots of variety in environments and minibosses, and surprisingly huge dungeons. And for the price? It's actually a nice package. Some other review said that this is the game you'd be excited about when you're young - and I fully agree. I'm mid 30s now and this throws me back to simpler times.

One of those games that last only a couple hours, but are totally worth it.

This game is: A few pretty render cinematics, Hollywood-level audio design and cinematic storytelling...

... of a boring story that's not worth it. It's like a horror B-movie. The main antagonist just doesn't have the appeal of the great evil from former games. I'm utterly uninterested in what this demon girly does to this generic game world.

The first hours of this game are SO boring that I won't even play it for free, I have stopped playing after about an hour during the free open beta back then, and now that I could play the full game for 5 whole days on Steam and technically get through the campaign for free... I'm still bored to death after about an hour. This game is just not worth your time or money.
Skill trees are linear and uninspired, the loot is boring, exploration doesn't feel rewarding, the game is clunky.

If you want nice horror stories told in a cinematic fashion, go watch a movie. At least the movie won't shove an ingame shop with aggressive prices into your face and insult you with pointless busywork in "seasons" full of partially reskinned "content". If you really, really must experience the story of Diablo 4, watch a let's play or a summary on the internet and save yourself a lot of money and frustration.

And if you want a really good ARPG with actual gameplay and meaningful choices in character building, classes, skills, loot... play for example:

- Last Epoch
- Grim Dawn
- Path of Exile
- Titan Quest

Enormous fantasy world, deep and interesting characters, lots to do and lots of immersion. There's quite a bit of repetitive filler activities, but overall still a great game. The graphics hold up nicely despite its age. RPG fans should play this.

I wished Nintendo would finally bring Animal Crossing to the PC, and they just.. don't. So I really, really wanted to like Hokko Life as a real alternative. But honestly, it just doesn't click with me. It just doesn't have the same charme and it feels like a soulless, boring copy. I hope that it gets more content and refinement, it has potential. But so far, it's just awkward to me, The characters have way too simple and generic dialog writing, and the entire place also feels a bit generic and... off. Almost eerie, as if there's something wrong with it. The pacing of the onboarding experience is also weird and unsatisfying. In its current form, I unfortunately can't recommend it. I got bored really fast.

Highly addictive and highly recommended.

This is the best game ever made. No sarcasm. This is just what I needed, it refills your soul and is pure bliss. If you ever felt like you needed a break, play this. Gorgeous art style, lovely sound design, great humor, fun exploration and characters. 10/10
