It's a fun game, though it's very unbalanced - at least in normal mode. It took a little while to beat, but as you progress you get so overpowered that the final boss becomes a joke.

What a fantastic game. It's fun, charming and challenging without being too difficult. Except for maybe the secret ending puzzles, which I had to get help for. I think I just missed a few hints in the environment, though.

Highly recommended, I should have played this right after it came out.

Absolutely fantastic game. Very smooth to play, very fun and challenging levels. I have to admit, I had to watch videos to get some of the shortcuts and secrets - it can be a little tricky at times.

Considering I've spent 25 hours in this game in no more than a week... yes, I like this game and I'd recommend it.

Don't expect it to be different to the original, they're very similar - although I think I like this game better. I'm kinda surprised at the reviews that say "I didn't like Psychonauts 1... and I don't like this game". Why are you playing this game then?

So I just finished the game, and I really enjoy- *notices there's 76 missing achievements* oh. I'm nowhere near done, am I?

I'll write a proper review if I ever do, but the fact that there's so many choices I didn't explore really took me by surprise, and makes me like the game even more.

Nice, cute, and relaxing. Some of the puzzles can be a bit tricky, but nothing too frustrating.

Whew. That took a while. I completed all the missions. Got all the endings. Got all the upgrades. Maxed out every score. It's been a while since a game got me this hooked.

Here's what you should expect:
  • This is not Dark Souls, though it shares some of the DNA - be prepared to try missions several times over, with different builds and approaches. Some of them can be grueling, but the checkpoint system saves a lot of frustration.
  • This is a fast-paced mech game. Armored Cores are more like fighter jets than actual robots. The game expects you to use horizontal and vertical movement while managing resources and enemies. It can take some getting used to.
  • No single build is suitable for all missions. You have to learn to customize your mechs. You'll spend just as much time piloting as you will optimizing your builds. For those that find that tedious, people share their builds online and you can copy those.

Some tips:
  • To get the most out of this game, you need to play it at least 3 times, to get all 3 endings. That'll unlock all the missions and parts.
  • If you want to S-rank all the missions, use the AC VI rank calculator (search that online, it's super useful to understand what actually matters for your score).
  • Don't grind for money. It's a waste of time. I did that, and by the time I finished the game I not only had all the parts but more than 40 million COAM left over. Just sell parts you don't use, you get all the money back.
  • Don't forget to explore off the beaten path a bit, you might be missing secret parts or encounters.

The fact that this game only costs $5.00 is just criminal. Really cool environment, great moving mechanics, top-notch retro style, great fun all around.

And don't worry, you can make the character put pants on.

This game is probably way overhyped right now. It's definitely got significant flaws. But the thing is... I'm having a lot of fun playing it regardless. I really love F.E.A.R., so seeing something trying to bring that gameplay back is much appreciated. Is it worth for the $30 it costs at launch? For F.E.A.R. fans, I'd say yes... but others should watch some gameplay footage before deciding. It just so happens this works for me.

I'm playing this in rage mode, the hardest difficulty. YMMV with other settings.

The bad:
* The level design feels purposeless, more like random corridors put there to get you to the next arena
* Inconsistent graphics quality
* Cheesy plot, obviously just there to decorate the gameplay
* Parts of it feel woefully incomplete, like the barren inter-mission safe house
* The slide kick is way overpowered, it should be toned down by giving it a cooldown or shortening its range
* In rage mode, the enemy reaction time feels ridiculous... but to be fair, they did warn me and I like the challenge

The good:
* The gameplay is FUN - in rage mode, it feels like a puzzle you need to practice and solve
* The weapons feel satisfying to use
* The movement and abilities are satisfying and give you plenty of options to tackle encounters
* Good sound design, I enjoy listening to the enemy banter

So I love, LOVE jumping spiders. They’re the cutest, fluffiest little hunters ever. They even follow laser pointers, just like cats!

This game manages to make them even more adorable. It’s incredibly fun, albeit short. That’s probably for the best, since the main 5 areas manage to squeeze a lot of value from the game mechanics.

Don’t miss the skating ring secret!
