Review of L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files on Windows Mixed Reality

Visuals: B
Characters: A+
Story: C+
Dialogue: A+
Gunplay: D
Locomotion: D
Music: B

First off, this game is not optimised for WMR, and will only work through a .dll file fix. Even with the fix, there was substantial judder with a GTX 1070.

I turned down visual settings, but nothing eliminated the shaking. I also encountered a couple glitches. Once, a clue did not trigger a cutscene like it was supposed to. In the last mission, there were invisible models (missing telephone, map). It is also possible to miss parts of the story entirely and have no idea what is going on in the case.

The game shines with the character dialogue. The original L.A. Noire used massive amounts of motion capture data to recreate facial expressions and this has been used to render the most realistic in-game models for conversations. Interviewing suspects is also much easier than the original game because in VR, you can see when they have shifty eyes.

Driving is a blast, but no one reacts when you drive over pedestrians or crash cars.

The hardest level to beat is the credits. How many Brazilians does it take to translate The Witcher 2? Eighteen. I know because I watched the 25 minute credits.

There should be a Steam Achievement for that.

Wore a hood. Snuck around at night. Opened desk drawers and stole scissors. I STOLE SCISSORS!

This review makes more sense than the storyline.

This game has the MOST ENTERTAINING kill-cam. It's grisly gratification as the camera pans and follows the bullet trajectory as is penetrates steel, flesh, bone, and internal organs.

The graphics are A+
The music is a B+
The controls are an A
The story is a C+
