Backgrounds and level tiles are made out of free assets online. They look like ass and they don't communicate boundaries very well.
The music is all free music online. It's a very, VERY mixed bag but some bangers.
The menu elements are all from free asset packs online. Looks a'ight.
Took 'em 13 years to release the final game.
The DLC is fine.

5/10 I love it

Put a really, REALLY big asterisk on this recommendation.

The game is played in one of two ways:
1. Honest-to-god dungeon crawl where you're fighting enemies to level up, get better gear, get abilities to negate what the enemies do, and avoiding anything that starts with F until the very end.
2. Find some very obvious cheat abilities and never fight a single battle until you need to grind up some gold and EXP for about 15 minutes before killing the final boss.

If you like RPGs for their *systems* and do not give a flying blue **** about story, then this game is a treat if you can get it for half price or lower. At the time of this review, I got it for $12 and I loved it for that. $30 is too much given how sparse the actual content is.

If you only like RPGs for characters and story, then avoid this game at all costs. The story is literally character bios, a tile just before the last boss where they basically taunt you, and a text box after you beat the final boss followed immediately by the credits. That is the plot in its entirety.

I very glad this game exists, but we also don't need more games like it.

Essential blobbercore. Just replace the default font with Neutron, the EO4 font.

Souls with fatter hallways, basically. It's a ton of fun the first playthrough if you can resist looking up guides. Subsequent playthroughs are still a ton of fun trying to make more specific builds or breaking the game wide open. It's as easy or difficult as you make it.

Revising my review as they fixed the bug preventing me from playing normally. The monetization is kinda crap, and there are some lingering technical issues, but the game itself is fun.

Early Access Review
Pretty much top-down Terraria. Deserves your money so they can make more content.

Amps up the issues in the first two games to 11, then add some annoying mechanics in an attempt to toss up the combat monotony that was definitely settling in on this series as a whole.

I put up with the anime cliche malarkey in the first two games because the combat was good and I actually wanted to see how the characters got over themselves (Jusis and Machias hating each other, Fie and Laura coming to understand each other, etc.) In this game, nobody really goes anywhere except kinda sorta Juna, and even then you can see it coming a mile away and it's not especially interesting.

In this game, every boss will buff + heal themselves to try to force you to lay in with break damage to knock them out of that state, which just makes them tedious in addition to their ridiculous HP totals. Characters are static and uninteresting because there's like 40 of them and they have to chime in every cutscene they're present for. I wouldn't want to write intersecting character developments when you'd have to have a major character plot point every cutscene on average just to touch on all of them by the end.

This game is an uninteresting slog.
