ONE (actually TWO)

Remember Hisaya Naoki, the man who made Key happen. If the original of ONE only featured routes from Jun Maeda, the game would probably fail miserably, and we wouldn't see anything from Key.

I loved the game overall. Great setting, atmosphere and game mechanics. My favorite moment playing the game was dropping a barrel on rats in the arsenal, killing all four of them while they feasted on a dead body. I also liked the short part where you climb up into a pillbox. But I have some critiques.

The game asks you to experiment, but severely punishes you for wasting time. Covering up the holes is a waste of time, since the monster can break through it anyway. You get most of important items a bit too late, I never got to use the gas mask for example, because there's no area in the bunker permanently filled with gas. Stopwatch is a waste of an inventory slot too. You get shotgun at the end of the game and use it maybe once. What was the point in having it in the game other than for the sake of trailers? After all the build-up, Roman tunnels section feels like a wasted opportunity: you just get in and then you're instantly out. Overall the last hour of the game feels like it plays on a fast forward. The fight at the end is awful, it completely destroys the slow atmosphere of the game for the sake of "mandatory final boss" moment. The ending is butchered too, we don't even get an epilogue telling us what happened to the bunker and main character(s) afterwards.

I'm a bit sad, because the game was this close to becoming an absolute masterpiece. It just needed a bit more fine-tuning on the game mechanics, some additional puzzles and slightly longer playtime.

Simply put, a diamond in the rough.

One question though...

When are we gonna see Warp Traveler in the game?

Comfort game that's perfect for fans of Yuru Camp. The calming music that puts you in a joyful mood (though Hiyori's battle track when you choose to travel the "harder path" is just MAD BANGING), beautiful mountain scenery, cute 3D models. After you complete story mode once, you unlock the second playable character who has a different playstyle. Also much harder mountains to climb which will might now take several attempts to conquer. I bought the game when it was full price and I don't regret it one bit. The first person to give this game a negative review is probably going to hell or something.

Early Access Review
This is basically an extended demo. Only 2 hrs of content (I explored the map all over, that's why it's 4h), and the existing areas are not that replayable. The game really pulls you in, and that's why you're better off waiting for the full release.

It's a great little puzzle game for RE fans. Only 40 stages though, hopefully devs consider DLC content or a sequel with even more fleshed out mechanics (maybe you could interact with the merchant to acquire the items you need to complete the puzzles? upgrading weapons? rotating 3d models like in RE to find a missing item etc).

Not as revolutionary and focused as the 7th, but a great RE game nonetheless. The story and characters do not make much sense, some questionable decisions are made, but the imagery the game uses still stirs up your heart at the end.
