FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE
Review Showcase
After 103 hours I am final ready to move on from Final Fantasy VII Remake. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with this game. I was in awe when I first started playing it. The visuals are stunning, characters genuine with great voice acting. The combat is simply perfect, and I hope Square Enix build upon this for whatever they have planned after this trilogy is complete. Reminded me of Mass Effect with free-flowing combat mixed with queue based special attacks. Strategic planning is needed for a hard mode playthrough.

This is the only FFVII game I have played and from what I am reading elsewhere this remake is a disappointment in various areas. Perhaps had I played the 1997 release I would feel the same. I do think the pacing of the game slightly suffers, even as a new FFVII player there are noticeable and prolonged sections of the game and you do re-visit the same areas multiple times, but I was so invested in Cloud and co I did not care. I enjoyed it all, even more the second time around on hard mode, which offers the best playthrough. Shame you cannot play hard from the beginning.

I played using Keyboard and Mouse, which also worked out of the box with one exception – The motorcycle mini game. Thankfully, there is a mod to fix this, but it is a shame I needed to resort to a mod. I did try controller, but my inability to control the camera with a joypad makes me prefer to suffer through any minor mouse annoyances.

HDR worked perfectly on my ultrawide 21:9, but I did need to use Flawless Widescreen to achieve the correct resolution of 3440x1440.

No PC version announced for Rebirth. Sucks…. for now.
