It's released now, and while I feel it wasn't a "full release" and could have used more time in the oven, I still think this is, at the moment, the best skateboarding simulation game you can get yourself for 40 bucks. Combined with the fact that it seems the game may actually be getting updates after release (as well as DLC, which while I get why some people are mad about, hey, more content) and it's pretty good in my opinion.

Also it's difficult. You now have to use this game's controls to play it, and not another game's controls, which is a sticking point for some, for some reason. I'd say it takes like 2-3 hours to fully grasp what you're doing though. But the difficulty is at a point where it's satisfying to overcome it instead of just being stupid hard.

Just a smidge more work and it's perfect. Also devs if you're reading this re-add the unfinished board it was funny

Old review below:

It's not finished (and the game tells you this several times) and sometimes it can be a bit janky but I feel right now, as of this review, it's probably the best "realistic" skateboarding game you can buy today.

Until Skate 4 comes to PC (if it does), this will scratch that itch (at least, if you like street skating, grabs and vert aren't quite there yet). Especially if you liked Skate 2, with it's more down to earth setting and style. Finding yourself a cool spot to skate or a nice gap to record yourself going over in near 1:1 recreation of sections of NYC and Philadelphia (apparently, I've never been!) is so good, and right now you don't have to worry about people getting in your way or getting chased by rent-a-cops.

Speaking of the Skate series, you can even use the flickit controls from it as a control option, if you don't feel like rewiring your brain to use the defaults. (Give them a shot though, they feel weird at first but eventually it feels nice to skate around with it!) Plus you can tweak everything about the physics, too. Give yourself moon gravity and wild push speed if you want!

And even if Skate 4 comes to PC and is a complete return to form for the series, this will still be worth getting since it tries to be it's own thing (bar the completely optional control scheme). I think that says a lot.

fun relaxing game. like real life, the end goal is to make so much money that any fine you get is pocket change so laws don't apply to you anymore. also a good excuse to listen to dad music over internet radio

EDIT for 2020: All the stuff I said about the workshop is a bit different now. Most of the wrestlers being uploaded currently require DLC, some of which is pricey, even on sale. While there's still lots of stuff you can get that doesn't NEED the DLC, if you ask me, it's like getting a generic luchador figure from Dollar Tree instead of that official Stone Cold figure from KB Toys. The game itself is still alright, though.

Don't be fooled by the graphics (even though they're really not even that bad). Fire Pro is an extremely deep game series focused mostly on Japanese-style pro wrestling, with a couple of other things covered too, like MMA and kickboxing. From the "normal" style of NJPW & WWE to the crazy light-tube exploding barbed-wire-rope deathmatches of Big Japan & CZW, every style of wrestling is covered.

While the fictional wrestlers that come with the game are alright, the Workshop is where it really shines. Thousands of wrestlers, from every country, ranging from the newest Young Lions all the way back to the people who invented pro wrestling, you can get them. Plus fictional and joke characters, as well as custom ring graphics and refs, so you can have John Cena and the The Rock fight a robot and a Dangan Ronpa character at TNA Sacrifice with a bear as the ref. The customization goes incredibly deep and it can be as silly or as serious as you want.

The actual gameplay is fun and engaging as well. It's a bit complex, but the Mission Mode helps ease you into the various mechanics and quirks of the game. You will miss strikes though. And yes, if your match goes on long enough, you will need to step aside and breathe to keep going. But even if you don't want to play, the deep CPU logic system makes even just watching CPU matches a blast. Fire Pro World is the latest in a long, storied line of games; and it lives up to the name. If you like wrestling, get this game.

Something happened to me at the beginning of the game, I don't want to spoil it, but it made me feel like someone literally took my heart out and stomped on it.

Minutes later, I was laughing at skeleton puns.

10/10
