I think the main game was a flowed gem. I can't say this about this dlc. It is completely built around a broken stealth system, which might be the worst stealth system I have ever seen in a big budget game.
The section with the invisible enemies (you should stealth kill them by using the axes in the area and your torch to make them temporary visible) is so frustrating and broken...
No, I barely had any fun with this dlc and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I would love to recommend this game. There are a lot of things that Doom Eternal does fantastic and I still love Doom 2016 and think it is the best modern AAA-1st-person-shooter there is.
The graphics are nice and very metal, the performance is excellent and the sound and especially the music is superb!
Also, the enemy design is great again!

Now let's go back to Doom 2016 for a second.
This game was a huge success and (for me) the reason for this was that it wasn't trying to be anything else than a simple and highly polished shooter with one goal: RIP AND TEAR!
You were the Doom guy aka the Slayer. You are full of anger and you want to kill as many demons as possible.
Why are there so many demons on Mars? Who cares! The doom guy doesn't give a f*** about it!
When he gets contacted first and someone tries to explain the situation he punches the communication station away.

In its core, it was an extremely polished arena shooter. The many arenas were one of the few things that fans criticized about Doom 2016. Some more classic fps level were high on the wish list for Doom Eternal.
Also in the end the pacing of the game wasn't that great because there were no new weapons or enemies anymore.

So, after all that what would you think are the things that changed the most from Doom 2016 to Doom Eternal?
If the answer that you would wish for looks like this list, I recommend this game to you:

1. A lot of platforming! Almost after every single combat section there is a platforming section with some of the section even requiring multiple jumps in sequence while a short timer is counting down in the background. Too slow? Well, start again (in some cases with less health because you fall to your death).

2. More lore and world building. There is a lot of world building happening compared to Doom 2016 which has the classic Doom-story which we all know from Doom 1993 or Doom 3. Now everything has a deeper reason.

3. All this additional lore and world building is explained in a lot of cutscenes (at least they can be skipped) and in game sections in which other characters are talking to you while you are sometimes even stuck on a platform until the talk is over.
Do you remember the scene in Doctor Samuel Hayden office in Doom 2016? Where you couldn't shoot and also couldn't progress until he told you a lot of stuff that nobody playing the game cared about? Get used to a lot of this!
Half Life 1 in 1998 did a much better job without taking control away so many times from the player.

4. The game tries to be much more cinematic! In the first two levels there are 4 or 5 times when you push a button or do something and then the camera switches to a part of the environment which for example is being blasted open by a gigantic gun. You are not in control of the game during these sections!

Also there are more upgrade systems, collectables and challenges in the game. The glory kills and other interactions with enemies like setting them on fire to get armor or using the chainsaw to get ammunition are not an optional way to get health, ammunition or armor but are at the core of the game. In Doom 2016 I rarely needed to do those things but now I am forced to use all of those mechanics in almost every bigger combat arena.

In summary I would describe Doom Eternal as follows:
Less of all the things I loved about Doom 2016 and much more of all the stuff that other modern shooters have which is the kind of stuff I never wanted to see in a Doom game.
I have no idea we this game has Doom in its title except for brand recognition.

Again, I really wanted to like this game and I had high hopes after Doom 2016 but I really don't get it why all those things that have nothing to do with a shooter are in here. Who asked for this? Who would have answered the question "What do you want in a modern Doom" by saying "More cutscenes and cinematic sequences, a lot of platforming, more upgrade systems and collectables..."?!?!?!?!

This might be a good game, but it doesn't support resolutions higher than 1900x1080 and 1900x1200.
Thereby, everybody with a modern display could only play it in windowed mode and who wants to do that?

Once you run out of good ideas, you start to throw BS at the player.
I really love Dungeons 3 but this DLC is a bad joke.
Starting with an inefficient, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ dungeon, throwing random events and spawns every few minutes in said dungeon and on top destroying parts of the dungeon, so the player has to rebuild it over and over again.
Sorry, but I can't stand it. I liked all the other DLCs, but this one is pure trash and I think the developers know it.

This is one of the worst WW2 RTS I have ever played.
For starters the game has a tone of bugs which have never been fixed (and this game is from 2017!). Sometimes you can't finish mission objectives and other times you are stuck in a loading screen and have to kill the process in task manager.

The gameplay itself is ok. Nothing to write home about but also not bad. If you could play it more consistent and without the bugs I could maybe(!) recommend the game for people who really can't get enough WWII RTS games.
The balance on the other hand is terrible. The focus is too much on tanks. I like the Company of Heroes approach much more where tanks are only usefull in certain situations and with infantery support.
And this is the biggest letdown for me: Company of Heroes 1 - a game from 2006 - did everything we get offered here more than ten years before Blitzkrieg 3 and did it way better!

Another big problem is the mission design. Sometimes the objectives change during the missions which in general is a good thing. But the way this is implemented here is unfair and very artificial.
The unfair part are changing mission objects which can only be accomplished if you know that they are coming. Otherwise you have not enough time to bring your units in the right positions.
The artificial part goes like this: I have to accomplish an objective north of a town full of enemy units. The game tells you to go arround the city but I don't care and I kill every unit in the town before I reach my objective north of the town. Once this objective is accomplished the game plays a short cutscene and all my units have been magically teleported to the south of the town and I get a new objective to capture the town. Hmmm... well I already did this but hey! Videogame logic!

If I look at all those things I can't recommend Blitzkrieg 3 even though I really tried to like it.

Another company that thinks I would give them my data to create an account. Nope. Not gonna happen.
I got this game a long time ago in a bundle and I am happy about it because otherwise I also could have thrown my money out of my window.

A nice retro throwback to the 'good old times' when you had a great framerate...

i7 7700k Nvidia 1080 gtx -> 5 fps.

You have to love this, right?! :-D

"Inheritance" continues the story of Layers of Fear from the daughter's point of view.
This is an interesting approach because you spend most of the DLC reliving memories of the daughters early childhood when she was a toddler.
The view of a small child alone is enough to create a special horror atmosphere. Everything in those memories seems huge from your perspective, the voices of the adults roar particularly loud and sometimes feel very threatening.

The content of the DLC focuses much more than the main game on the artistic approach. You will find yourself in a world which is created by the imagination of a child and the drawing itself becomes a central element of some memories.

As in the main game this DLC has multiple endings which depend on your decisions during the game.

If you like shocking moments and jump scares, you'll probably be disappointed, because the DLC is more than the main game on atmosphere.
But if you liked the main game, you will surely have fun here as well.

Do you remember Contra from SNES? Did you enjoy playing it? Yes?
If so here is a nice little game which copies Contra.

The gameplay, the graphics, the sounds... everything is a blast from the past.
The music is amazing and the game is challenging.

One of the best features is online coop!

The only thing I am missing is a restart option for a level (to reset your lives).

Anyway, if you like this kind of games give the developers your support and buy it. It is totally worth your money.
