..There are thousands of you helping others on the community, in all of the Forums, not just the Skyrim one. It really warms my heart to see that, please if there's anything you might know to help someone, please feel free to post a comment, everything and anything can help.

..Additionally, If you are stuck and wish to post a question on this thread, please feel free...I'm sure someone will try to help you, just please try to be patient, as people are busy at times and it may take a while. It is a good idea to prepare for it to take up to a day for a reply, though it is more common that a reply is posted within minutes.

Thank you :)
Grimus' lil' trouble-shooter: Try this if you are stuck:
- unsub and delete workshop mods from the DATA section of splash screen.
- deactivate and delete all Nexus and "other" mods from the game.
- delete Local Content via Steam by right clicking on game from Steam Library.
- exit Steam
- delete all files in Steam>Steamapps>Common>Skyrim folder.
- delete all files in Users>(user name)>My Documents>My Games>Skyrim
folder. (copy Saves fiolder to desktop, your saves may not work with the new install because of the mods no longer being active.)
- clean registry
- run anti-virus scan
- shutdown computer, wait a couple mins., restart computer.
- re-install Skyrim from Steam by right clicking on the game icon in your Steam library.
- verify game cache. (its safe to ignore the "1 file..." message.)
- check load order from the DATA section of the splash screen: dawnguard, hearthfires, dragonborn, HR textures 1, 2, 3.
- test game installation with new character.

NOTE: Another good start to approaching problems:
Oprindeligt skrevet af frogprincess_q4:
-What mods (if any) are you running? Or have you been running?
-Has the game EVER worked properly?
-If yes, what's changed since it last worked properly?
-Have you verified your game's cache?
-Have you tried a clean install with no mods?
-Does your system meet the minimum requirements for Skyrim?
-Are your drivers up to date?
-Is your game a legal copy?

  • Creation Kit Crashes?
You must input this code into the ini folder, located in your program files:

From your Desktop, click on the: 'Start' menu> click on 'My computer'. Then Click through this file path:
C:\Drive (Or the drive that your program files are on) > Program files> Steam> Steamapps> Common> Skyrim.

In the Skyrim folder, look for a file called: 'SKYRIM EDITOR'. (NOT 'SkyrimPrefs'. It looks like a page of text with a gear wheel on it on most OS's)

Double Click on this file. Once opened, you will see a massive list of code...DON'T PANIC, this is easy now, take a breath...

The 1st category says 'General'. At the bottom of the General category, check that you see the below line of code. If you don't, then click in the space you see below the last code line, and type this case sensitive line, Letter for Letter with the Capital Letters and no spaces, (and yes, include the equals symbol too):

bAllowMultipleMasterLoads=1

Now, there should be a space between that line you added and the next category title, '[Audio]' like there was a space before..
This will allow the loading of other 'active-set' plug-in files, like your mods for example, as well as the loading of Skyrim's template content.

Now, the next line to add in this 'SKYRIM EDITOR' File:
Same as with the General section, scroll right down through lots of the page to get to '[ARCHIVE]' near the bottom of the file. Then, at the bottom of the Archive section, you will look for:

SResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Update.bsa

You should find this at the bottom of the Archive list. But it is missing something, I want you to make it look like this:

SResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Update.bsa, Dawnguard.bsa, Hearthfires.bsa, Dragonborn.bsa

Start by putting a comma after 'Update.bsa' and carry on typing this. Once you've typed that line, hit [ENTER] to make one space below this line and the new section below. When you have done that, REMEMBER TO SAVE! At the top of this file, click: 'File' and 'Save' and you're done. As you can probably tell, that second line of code enables you to load up the DLC content in the Creation Kit.
thanks to frog princess :)

LOADING:
...You should now be ready to use the Creation Kit with no problems, loading up your mods and the Dlc content.
...Upon clicking File> Data, then when the loading window appears, check/tick the Skyrim plug-in and the other plug-ins you wish to load.
NOTE: You will need to select each additional plug-in, one by one, as an 'active file', using the button available below the plug-in list. Hit that for every plug-in you add. IT DOES NOT SELECT THEM ALL IN ONE CLICK. Master Files do not need setting as Active Files.

WARNINGS:
...Upon loading the data, the Creation Kit will also flag up warnings. Something like 'Parent space could not find data. Ignore?' ..CLICK YES TO ALL, and Creation Kit will continue to load up. Bear in mind that this can take up to a good 60 seconds to load, so there's nothing wrong with your computer, don't worry. After a few moments, you will see the contents of Skyrim populated in the object window, and you're ready to rock and roll. Please see the tutorials on how to use the kit to edit your game!....Have fun!

It may also be useful to point out the general body mods, visual enhancements and overhaul mods. There's, like, 2-5 posts a day asking for them >.<

Did you want to keep everything to the first post? Or open the doors to additions of other staple things that are commonly asked for? ^.^
Good point Adura..And you are exactly on my wavelength..I could post links to Console commands, but I am refraining from that..Because I want to steer beginners into the creche of the tutorial links before they go darting head first into mods!..lol. (love your mods, keep it up :)

[EDIT] I have actually posted a link regarding console commands, someone provided the link and I suppose it can help, but the only reason it made it on here is for the big warning sign on the link's page, that is the only reason it is here.

Glad you are not adding links to console commands. I believe they should only be used in the critical stage of playing and not to enable easy cheats for those who do not want to do the hard yards of working out the game itself.
Yeah Jogon 'tis :)

I will say this though, Adura,

If you wanna big up any really great mods out there or have come across one worth shouting about, pop on over to Frankie Z's Thread where he's just started one!

I'd suggest that you link to the Creation kit wiki also; "I want to create new mods!"

You may want to list the general site, as well as the 'getting started' and 'how to install' pages. Half of the posts about getting started ask how to install it >.<. The other half are more technical.

Here are some potential suggestions:

How do I install the Creation Kit? T_T

How Do I make a mod? :O

Sure, they could google >.< But if ppl did that the discussion forums would be missing ~half the posts :P
We need a place that everyone will see first, and hopefully check before posting.

If they neglect to do so, this is a convenient place to link them to ^.^

You'll find the very short common sense intro at the top of this thread. If you want to post a thread based on what you have mentioned, I'm not stopping you.

And some people may not know what to search for =/ Though, it's kinda hard to miss things like the Nexus >.<

Maybe they just want to be reassured that these resources are legit, and the answer to their problems O_o.

Maybe they just didn't think to ask google :P

Either way, we get tons of these kinda posts, and they aren't gonna slow down O_o. So a thread like this is quite useful ^^

Btw, I love how it's shapin' up so far Master Dan :D Good work /salute ^_~

Good post mate..Keep em comin! :)
Adura 21. juni 2013 kl. 5:41
Alder O_o You've got great stuff. I'm impressed :D
I still feel that we should put this kinda stuff closer to the top. Lotsa ppl skip posts >.<

If we run outta room, and if it's ok, I could put stuff in my first post (the second one in the thread) to augment the available space ^^ (I'm assuming that there is a space limit, like all other forum boards O_o).

If yes, just tell me what'cha want there, Master Dan ^.^

The thread can expand to a big size don't worry, make a new post if you like. It keeps the thread alive.

I will need to make some modding tuts for this game. I know enough to mod quite a bit of Skyrim, just there isn't enough to go into certain corners of the editor. Not the basics though. Advanced stuff for the curious.
That's great to hear. I'm just trying to help really. And I know that there hasn't been a thread like this for a long time. Have you spent much time on the TES forum, Alder?...
