[Summons] - [FPS locked] - Summoning any of the deities will lock the FPS between 17-20
I'm aware there's already a post about this @http://steamcommunity.com/app/637650/discussions/0/1697167168517798273/, but users in the main post mostly mention "me too", Devs would probably love having DxDiags to pin point said issue:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Details:

When user uses the ability to Summon a God, he is locked at around 17 to 20 FPS until he quits the game.

Steps to Reproduce:

1 - Boot FF 15 → Obtain the ability to Summon a God (Ramuh is first we can summon I believe)
2 - Start a fight → When prompted use the ability to Summon
3 - Notice that during Deity animation, FPS remains in decent range
(I play around 40-45 FPS and it drops to 35, which is pretty normal considering the quantity of particles)
4 - Notice that when the Summon is about to disappear after the fight and the brightness goes darker and than comes back to In-Game normal lighting → FPS drops drastically and locks to around 17 to 20 FPS

Repro Rate: 100%

Workarounds:

A) Save game → Leave FF15 → Relaunch and load

B) Saving the game and remaining in the Pause Menu for about 10 seconds solved it for me without leaving the game

thanks this worked

it should also be noted that this only happens if the summon kills enemies. if the enemy survives, the fps doesn't drop.

I was finally able to reproduce this problem and I have looked in depth at what's going on while the framerate is down in the 17 to 20 FPS range... absolutely no D3D11 bottleneck exists here. I then went and ran it through my favorite debugger to look at what the CPU's doing.

It's running in some sort of altered state that is only supposed to be temporary (presumably a slowdown for cinematic effect, which is used a lot in JRPGs). There is no complicated performance issue here for Square Enix to solve, they just need to put the game back into the normal gamestate.

The interim solution is for users to go back to the main menu and load a save game. I'd be very surprised if this wasn't already fixed and if it isn't in the first patch, whenever that arrives.

used it on giant snake boss or whatever and fps still dipped
@Kaldaien:

You were right about the FPS not locking at 20 (fps) when not completing the fight with the Summon.

Instead, when not finishing the enemy, Summons locks the game at 25 FPS.

I just hope we at least get an indication of a patch before the refund timeframe is up -- I have the game installed but refuse to play it until we get a patch (or at least news of a patch) for at least this issue and hopefully the items addressed in Kal's fix (plus the weird pause menu memory issue.)

I'm paranoid that we've now gotten the full breadth of their support outside of intended DLC, like most of their other PC ports.

thanks for this, I was assuming my video drivers were crashing, but couldn't find any evidence. Loading to title and back into game works, but theres a weird hitching till you restart the game.

They've patched there games. Final Fantasy 13 was a poo port and they fixed the issues. It might take them a little while but Square usualy fixes there ports.

Hey can you measure the GPU/CPU/RAM/VRAM usage while the summon issue is happening.
Since even kaleidan was unable to reproduce the problem on his system when people asked him for fix

They've patched some of their games and left others completely untouched. Final Fantasy VIII launched without the correct music in place and bugs left over from the original PC release like low quality textures on the overworld after entering a menu. And, of course, the absolute ridiculousness of the Nier release.

I'm hopeful, especially with how much pre-release support there's been, but I'm not dedicating my $50 until I have some communication from them.

I mean XV is there current main title. at the time so was 13. It will be patched. they already said they're doing more DLC on top of this as well.
