Highres Texture (NPC, Battle Backgrounds and Worldmap) - Coming soon!
It's getting hot in here, so take out all the filters... well...
I started now on the overall Textures of the Game.

WIP NPC Textures:

WIP Worldmap:

The seams will be getting less or complete absent in the final release.

Let's make this Game more awesome! :D

Edit:
Mod was released!

Just unpack the 7z into your streaming assets.

If you've downloaded the old version, here's a temporary fix so the overworld stuff is vissible again.

Known Issue:
Worldmap model texture seem to be broken like Zidane and the vehicles (download the temp fix from above).
Characters don't blink. I'm investigating this and will release a patch ASAP. Sorry for all the inconveniences!

Holy crap dude, looking forward to this. All we really need now is true analog input and a better UI for this to be without a doubt the greatest version of IX.

i dunno about the world map, i think it looks terrible

i dont mean the effort you put in, i just mean it all looks like brains or something

alot of detail has been lost and yeah, it just looks like everything has the texture of brains

npc textures are great tho!

but yeah the world map...... i dunno... am i playing zombie fantasy IX ?
Fraggoso May 17, 2017 @ 11:19pm
What details are you referring to? The worldmap textures are 32x32 and there's honestly none to begin with. xD

yeah but the pixely textures are what add the detail

your ones have made everything so smooth and clean that again, it just ends up looking like water, or brains, or the texures are melting, or something other then what its supposed to look like.

The "problem" is that the textures are not filtered by any means within the engine.
If you like that look then there's nothing I can do about it and I despite non filtered textures.

We're not living in the psone era anymore. ;( it's baffling to me that every texture in the game is non filtered not even the npc's.

Wow, ETA on this one?
Fraggoso May 18, 2017 @ 8:55am
I can't give out an ETA (because of real life ^^) but that shouldn't take too long. At least NPC etc... are really straight forward.

@Fraggoso: Could you possibly add the missing disc change art to this version?

Also, can you use the old psx vids to re-add the missing top and bottom cut off areas of the fmvs (and filter them up so that it matches the new steam fmvs)?
Fraggoso May 18, 2017 @ 1:02pm
No I can't do that. The video part can be done but I don't know why you really wanna do that.
The fmv's are not only filtered but instead real higher res version of the psone they've way more details. If you want the psx ones I think you can just rip the psone vids, invert them to ogg and rename them to match the files in the streaming folder.

The images for the change cd are stored in the game but as I'm no programmer I don't know how restore it.
Here the same thing: why would you need it ? Nostalgia flair?

Sorry to disappoint you. :(

I was wondering where my comment went. I got lost to the other thread lol. Well, the question is in 2 places now with an explanation in the other :P
Sh1nRa358 May 18, 2017 @ 1:15pm
The fmvs are filtered. and blown up which resulted in the areas being cut off. square did not remake them for the steam release. It's all just filtered and blown up which is what I'm asking for by readding the cut strips.

Well in that case, can you or someone else do the [sx vids and filter them so that compression artifacts aren't shown? Can scale2x be used on vids? I dont even know.

As for the disc change screens, i put in the other thread to blow them up with scale2x and then edit the letters to say chapter instead of change to disc. Reason is that I like my games complete. No missing content. I got a refund on this game because it was missing things but this is bringing it closer to the orginal release with better graphics. If these 2 things could be done, I could live without the multiplayer psx option. Because I saw somewhere that there is a original menu mod for steam and this release can be 99% closer to being complete unlike FF7 and FF8 for steam.

Like I said the fmv are hd versions with way more details. They did not redender them but used hd master. The cropping is because the master where 4:3 I think instead of 16:9.

Try looking at the very first fmv where you can see Alexandria from the distance.
If you're going to crop the rest out of the psx version you would get a clear cut between the two versions.

You miss the multiplayer battles the most?

Where did you find them? I couldn't spot those images and thought they were not in the data anymore.

Sorry my bad. I thought he meant the higher res static photos of the characters.
