Discoveries (not) shared / synced between different game-modes?

Issue: I visited a planet, in creative mode and uploaded many discoveries. Some days later I visited the same planet in normal mode, but I could not see any of my discoveries I made before in creative mode. The planet was actually undiscovered even though I discovered it before in creative mode.

Question: Is this a bug or are the different game modes hosted on different servers / databases and not connected with each other? Like PC and PS4 version of the game?

I have a similar issue. I started a creative character with the intention of creating a base so that my survival one could visit it.

Now i can see my survival's discoveries and other people's discoveries. So it seems they're not on different servers. However, recent discoveries by both characters are not showing up for the other. These are discoveries made 3/4 days ago.

So perhaps discoveries take a very long time to be registered on their server, or there is a bug that's either preventing discoveries from uploading to the server or downloading to people's games.

Yes, I had the same idea with the base.

In general, I can see other peoples discoveries in both game modes. But it seems that discoveries I can find are different, depending on the game mode I am playing.

In case it would really take a long time to "sync" discoveries - like you said - I would regard this as a bug. Let's say, two people found the same planet (within some days or hours), and both can claim it as their discovery just because it was not "synced" yet, then the whole discovery and claiming feature of the game makes no sense to me.

If discoveries are just not synced between the different game modes, I could accept that. But at least I need to know, so I can decide in which mode I continue to play the game...

i think its meant to be this way, modes are unconnected.

that would be OK for me. Just hoping for some official feedback from HG if it´s meant like this or not. Cause that would be an important fact for community projects where players share their coordinates and discoveries...

IIRC, creative mode universe isn't share with the other three. But normal, survival and permadeath are all shared.
Think creative somewhere says that it doesn't share stuff online, or something like that.

You don't get the achievements logged in Creative, but it's the same as the other modes for everything else.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I could not find any official information if the modes are connected or not. When you start the game, It only says that achievements are not unlocked in creative mode. It does not say that discoveries are not shared.

My creative save can see all the old discoveries by my survival character, but not the ones made in the last week (i also see the same 3rd party discoveries across both saves). So clearly discoveries are shared across modes, at least in one direction.

The question is why am i not seeing the new discoveries? It has to be a bug, or they have an extremely slow update time. The latter is not impossible; this wasn't a game where they expected people to be running into each other constantly.

I can tell you that I have seen other players systems in my Creative save, so I can say that our discoveries are uploaded.

But I would assume that the different game modes are instanced versions of the same universe, I think if Creative and the other modes were shared I could quickly destroy their game just by exploring for free.

That doesn't explain why i can see my survival character's old discoveries but not the ones made in the last week.

thanks for sharing your experience. I am currently on the same planet, both in creative and normal mode. and i was able to give that planet different names in both modes and uploaded these names. now i am going to wait some days and see if / how the names in both modes are synced or not. maybe you are right and it will take some time until discoveries are 'locked'. maybe they must first run through some kind of spam filter to prevent offensive names. however, still waiting for HG official feedback... ;-)

Another thing, I'm in the HUB area (Rentocniijik Expanse) which is where there's the most activity. I can't find any systems discovered later than the 9th March which i think is when the update hit. That doesn't necessarily mean anything, it may just be that no players have been discovering things near me. But it could indicate that the patch broke uploads. I think i'll raise a ticket with them.

I don't think it goes through a spam filter as that's already done at our end. I've heard about people discovering the same places and being able to upload, so clearly the database is not uploading/downloading instantly. What happens is the first person to upload gets the permanent record, but i'm unsure how long it takes. A week though, doesn't sound right to me.
