Yeah i can confirm, just loaded the update up and its much choppier now. They must have tweaked a setting and now its killing fps. I mean i have a 980ti so this shouldnt be a problem.

Yeah - I have a 50% drop in FPS near my base.

Game is pretty much unplayable for me.

Yes massive fps drop.

First things first...remember to try running NMS without mods - the new update might've borked some mod functionality and they'll need to be updated. Usual stuff.

If that doesn't work:

Yeah, some other users - including some of the regular players - have reported it as well. Waiting to see if it's related to the usual low FPS/"leak" bug people have had since launch and the new patch just made it worse for more returning players or if this is something new.

If it's new, there's a better chance of HG patching it out. Might be a good idea for you guys to start a thread in the tech support section about it. If this is the first time you guys are seeing the game slow down, be sure to mention that so that you don't get lumped in with the pre-patch bunch for now.

Seems like HBAO is like 5-8 fps loss and light shafts is like 10-20 fps loss. Been testing a bit will see what else i can find.
Same here, i had 70-100 FPS now 40-60

It would be great if you could let us know if you find a workaround, that would help a lot of players. :)

Had to turn off light shafts. Terrible performance hit from them.

I'm having fps issues as well.

My specs are:
gtx 1070
i7 6700k
16 gbs ram

I shouldnt be having any fps drops even with everthing maxed out and a 1080p resolution. And yet I am. Before this update I was running the game at a silky smooth 60 fps, but now it drops between 60 to 29 consistently. This is so frustrating. How am I suppose to admire the new graphics and gameplay additions when the game is performing worse.

Same, very smooth 70+ fps pre-update, very choppy in certain environments now. No mods don't use 'em. Game looks a hell of a lot better though--they really did a nice polish pass on the visuals in this update, colors look much brighter/unique, edges look sharp, etc.

I agree, but it all counts for nothing if the performance is this bad. Hopefully, they can release patches or maybe other people could come up with solutions.

I know some people are suggesting to turn of light shafts in the settings, but that doesn't make sense for people who already have top current hardware. We shoulds be able to run this game at 60 fps max at 1080p, no exceptions.

Getting severe fps loss as well.

I had stable 60 fps on the planet i am atm, which is a very lush planets with lots of foliage on the ground. Now i get anything between 29 and 60 fps.

Also, water seems to be opaque now. Closer to the shore it is white, towards the center of the lake it is blue, but always opaque. It used to be transparent at that lake prior to the update.

Tried with and without HBAO and Light Shafts.

For anyone having these issues... They updated the graphics as well. So try changing the ghraphics settings to see what's best for your GPU. I know when they added more anti-aliasing options it messed with mine and I had to turn it off altogether to speed it up. Also remember that if you have specific drivers for specific games like I do that the old drivers will not be perfect for the new version of the game, so using a default driver might actually be better than the previous custom settings. Also, be sure to restart the game fresh. I know it can be annoying loosing progress after 120 hours on a single life, but most of these updates run better on a clean slate.

Best of luck, and hopefully you can get back into it soon. Personally, I'm in the middle of a re-install due to crashes. Can't wait to give the update a try.
